Hi everybody! I have just bought my very first supercar, a rather sad 2.8i special Capri. I am converting it ready for the track and so the interior is currently rather bare (although im hoping to rectify this with some custom acrylic to hide the holes and keep the classic interior lines of the car).

She has the lsd and a rusty cosworth disc conversion on the rear (although this should be an easy(ish) job to tidy up!).

My next plan is to tidy the exterior body work and clean off some patches of surface rust. (Im also planning on priming and painting it myself with the help of a compressor and some black gloss paint (and lots of time!)).

Ive mainly come looking for help and support with my biggest problem..thats the engine. I am looking to transplant it with the best engine I can (Im currently looking at: cosworth cologne/rover v8/chevy ls1) but am more than a bit daunted by fitting a different manufacturers engine into my lovely ford (as I think the rover v8 3.5l is my engine of choice at the minute after looking at the capriracing website).

Welcome to the site.

Engine choice is down to personal choice, but a few things to consider before you make your decision.

The YB motor makes a lot of power both in NA and turbo form and will fit straight in with little or no mods to the car.

V8's sound fantastic and with money spent in the right places can also go like stink, but American ones are very heavy and the Rover V8 needs quite a bit spent on it to make it really good (I think V8ian can offer good advice there)

Other choices include the XE, Zetec and Duratec. All of which have their advantages and disadvantages. They were all FWD engines so take varying degrees of modding to make fit, but can produce huge power given the right budget.

Hi guys, just logged in to look around the forum and find my footing and found I have loads of replies!

Massively impressed by the community here, glad I've got myself involved! You'll be seeing me around the boards and I'll get some early project pictures up as soon as I get back from lovely Hull.

I'll avoid sweets and puppies, although I am only 21, my capri is older than me!

Hello and welcome to the weird (one of our Mods wears socks and sandals  ) and wonderful (me  ) world of Old Skool Ford.

Apologies but your name looks like an Eastern European Spammer name and not an Old Ford fan's name and so I deleted you :oops::oops::oops: Anyway, I am glad you decided to re-register and hope that you can ignore this Admin blip and enjoy the forum
