CAR TAX...HELP!

Ok i had to renew my insurance today with sandwich union but my documents wont arrive for 4-5 working days...

 

my escort needs taxing tomorow and id ont have the insurance documents I managed to print off the car policy schedule and my info given to the inurance company. I also have my policy confirmation email and policy number.

 

is that enough to get my car tax?

 

and if not...am i able to order it online and then say 'well my tax is in the post' because at this rate i cant get back from teh POD with an un-taxed car

you need to display a valid tax disc so tax online is out of the window.

 

ring up the insurance company and see if they will email you the cert so you can print it out and then tax at the post office

i had insurance company fax a copy and that did it.

i asked and they wont email me a copy i dont have a fax machine

 

i know i have to display a tax disc but surely i can say 'ive paid fro it im waiting for it' which i would be.

 

 

can the psot office insure me with the detaisl i have? I have everythig except the certificate

SORRY BUT POST OFFICE WONT ISSUE A TAX DISC WITHOUT INSURANCE CERTIFICATE.YOU CAN GET A COPY SENT TO ANYONE WITH A FAX,HOW ABOUT WORK DO THEY HAVE ONE?

Why cant i get tax without the certificate? I have every other document that comes with my insurance. I can prove im insured on the car. i can prove who i am

I know the law says you must display a tax disc but I personally would drive around the world and back without one as long as you have paid for it.

 

If a cop car is following you they will know that your car is taxed/moted/insured automatically with their number plate recogntion whatsit so theres no need to give you a tug.

 

It would be really petty and pathetic to get a ticket for not displaying if you have paid.

If the post office turn me down then i can go online and pay for it there surely. as soon as i pay for it then my car should be taxed

As long as the insurance company has added your car to the MID insurance database you can tax the car online. Do you know anybody with a traders policy that can show their insurance so you tax it at the post office? If you tax online, it's logged as taxed as soon as you pay for it, you just don't have the disc which is at worst failure to display. Your reg will show as taxed on number plate recognition, and as it's only a few days out of tax I would not worry about it if I were you. You get a confirmation number to print if you tax online.

cheers matey....i dont know anyone local to me who can tax it using their traders insurance.

 

I just rang norwich union and they wont fax or email me a copy of my certificate. so looks like i gotta do it online.

 

ill try and do it at the post office tomorow. worst that will happen is ill get a brief SORRY WE CANT DO IT...

I think if it was me i'd try the post office and if not do it online and take the chance driving the car. The chances of getting pulled over are pretty remote. See ya sunday buddy

Yep, pay for it online so your car is on the system as taxed-and IF you did get pulled (which u wouldnt) say it blew out the window.. That is a f**kin good idea!

im gonns go up the post office in 40mins when it opens (que wiuth old folk wanting their pension) and see if i can get it there with he other documentation i have....i have everything excepot my certificate. i have all the schedules etc etc...

the p.o will NOT issue a tax disc without a certificate of insurance ... if you need to recieve a fax then most libraries will provide that service at a small cost
