Gaz just could not accept that he cannot just say whatever he wants to whoever he wants, and not actually add anything to OSF. Insulting and sarcastic comments are not welcome on OSF, plain and simple. If anyone feels that we are moaners, drama queens and things like that can go the same way as Gaz if they like

People seem to think that it was 1 thread that was the cause of the problems. It was the overall picture and the number of complaints that we had about Gaz and his "opinions" over a period of months. All of these things were taken into consideration in making the decision that WE (all Admin including Darren) made.

 

Billy - if you feel the site has nothing to offer you now that Gaz is gone then I wish you good luck in whichever forum you now choose to frequent and look forward to seeing the car race at Santa Pod

 

There will be no further discussion on this matter, the decision has been made.

 

If anyone else feels that this site does not offer YOU the freedom of speech that you feel you are entitled to or that the site will no longer be of interest to you without Gaz's posts then we all wish you well with the other forums that you feel are better or superior to OSF.

Like I said Paul, it was not 1 single thread or even 2 threads that made the decision for us. You are not party to the complaints that we have had over a number of months and therefore you do not know the full picture.

We have made the desicion and acted on it, This is not a place to slag off everyones cars and ideas that do not conform to a personal choice. Accusing the staff of lying or covering up or just abusing their position: "or was it not so bad just some people wanted him off of here" is not really on either is it.

 

PIG, if you feel your freedom of speech is being stifled, then I would suggest that you should feel free to say whatever you want on another forum, or keep your comments within the bounds of the ethos of OSF. Is that a lot to ask?

Very diplomatically put Jo. However, I've got to say I liked Gaz. I must be in a minority because I am always amazed at how offended people got by what he wrote (and they were just opinions). A lot were outrageously narrow minded but they just made me laugh!

Sorry you feel that way Billy. This is a website on the web so we do sit here behind the computers ... that is what Darren asks us to do. I don't have a problem with Gaz ... in fact most of the posts he replied to I didn't even read but it is not about my personal views ... it is about acting upon the views of others and the majority of correspondence about Gaz was complaints and we have to go with the majority.

 

On a previous occasion Gaz was given a temporary ban and both Phil overheadcam and Darren Posse spoke to him face to face at The Ace Cafe

Big I am? Don't think so. If you consider this site to be so sh1t then why are you here? 99% of people love it, I think that says something. We run this site for ALL the members as a collective, not for the few who want to disrupt it.

In your post you said you wanted to be deleted, like Gaz. All I said was that You can be deleted if you want. And I don't know if you noticed, but you are sitting at your computer as well. But like a said if you don't like OSF, your are free to NOT sign in.

Pig, this site was just fine before Gaz, it will be fine after him. Remember this is a family forum everyone. There is some threatening and aggressive posts in here that I don't want to see let alone everyone else. If you are unhappy with the mods decisions go elsewhere, make your own forum and do what you want. I liked Gaz and never had a problem with his comments personally but obviously some people did and I respect the admins decision at the end of the day.

The thing is, this isn't just the web, this is Oldskoolford, a web based community of REAL people who meet up, socialise, attend shows display on stands etc etc.

 

As for 'this type of shit' what? banning someone who won't accept the rules?
