Well it's summer again and yet AGAIN I have no OSF on the road!

So I spent the last two weeks hunting down something suitable to smoke about in. It had to be either a 2.0 Capper or a 4door Mk2 Ecy. It had to fairly mint example otherwise I'd ave never been happy with it and would probably started prodding it with a screwdriver and had myself ANOTHER project :?

I eventualy bagged this last week. It lived not too far away from me. I bought it 8pm Sunday night & had it at home by 9.30am Monday morning! All taxed & tested and up and running.:thumbsup:

It's very original. Only had a handfull of owners, the first had it for approx 16 years and covered an average of 2000 miles per year!! It's never been welded apart from the wings being replaced in 1997. The rest is original. When the wings were fitted, it was given a full re-paint. The underside was stripped and re-painted silver. At the same time, the engine and all the running gear was removed. The engine was painted and dressed up a little. All the suspension, axle etc was powder coated and all new nuts & bolts were used upon re-assembly.

It's got a Facet leccy fuel pump, a Kenlowe fan and a ported head + mild cam.. It's otherwise standard.

I spoke to the guy that delivered the car to Ireland for me yesterday.

He said that every time he stopped people were looking at the car and asking him about it one guy had him open the bonnet doors etc so he could take pics !!!

When he got to deliver it, the new owner drove it off the lorry went off up the road and never came back, leaving his son behind, who had to ring a mate to come fetch him, after ringing his Dad who was now "miles away and in love" !!!!

I'm just really pleased he liked it.

I do like the Mk2 in Silver though i think you got a good car there.

Weeeell I just couldn't help meself!!!

After only being in possesion of my new summer smoke for no more than 3 days, I just had to start fiddling with it and taking it apart.

First, the front suspension came off in order to be cleaned up and fitted with some shiney new springs. The original ones were far too tall!

Then the back end came apart too. I had some billies and other bits n bobs kicking about in the garage which would be right at home under the Escort.

It's so tempting to pluck this pesky little crossflow out and fill the space with the snortin 45 fed Vulcan pinto that's taking up precious space in the garage.

Only a weekends work.

But for now, I'll resist temptation...

Appearance wise, it's gonna stay as is. I deliberately went for a 4 door model because of the the look I wanted to create. It ain't having NO spoilers, NO spotlights, NO 1/4 bumpers and NO round headlights. It ain't an RS and never will be. I want it to look retro, not repro :thumbsup:

....and if I do decide to stick somethin a bit more lairy between the inner wings I'll have soooo much more fun slaughtering the Paxo brigade!!

Love it, a mate of mine had a MK2 Ghia 4dr 1.6 in silver when we were kids, and it was straight and solid,
