I know some of you foot usd filters on your side draughts but i live on a gravel road and id be paranoid about doing that.

problem is that its a single 40 on a lynx manifold and the trumpet it boot 3/4 of an inch away from the inner wing so any kind of k&n is out of the question.

iv tried the pipercross sponge that just pushes over the trumpets but again too big and looks shit squashed up against the wing.

does anyone make anything really tight fitting?

Mate...got the same problem, single 40 on the tina with the shortest trumpets is still so close to the inner wing....i just run open trumpets

unfortunatley not finished.... ran out of braded hose for one of the heater hoses :(

oh... and lesson learned, dont use engine paint on exhausts, best save up for some exhaust banding

So you think it will have restricted air flow? Dam. Dont want to have to change the trumpets as there is no way of taking the carb of the manifold studs, not enough room to slide it to the left. I have to take the manifold off the block and iv just put the fooker back on! Needs a new gasket every time.

iv had two of those linkages now, they're like the cheapest ones you can get. Got that one from rally design,

got it booked in for a rolling road on friday, if i have it all set up and then change the trumpets will it need setting up again? Baring in mind there will be more air flow.

Have you tightened up the carb onto the manifold solid?...the carb should move on the mishab plates mate otherwise your fuel with go frothy etc, you need the correct washers with the rubber part on as well

Erm... I put the studs in, put the metal and rubber seal thing on then the carb and tightened the nuts untill i thought they wont fall off...

did i do something wrong?

im glad you all like the linkage, i hate it, i wanted one of the gold coloured webber ones but that was like £30 lol.

See the space between the carbs & the manifold? There's a rubber washer in there. It looks like the carb should tighten up & sit against the manifold but that is how it should be

yeah, iv got those things on... (these things....)

mine did have a gap like that at first but when i took the manifold off with the carb attatched all the fuel in the float chamber pissed out of that gap, i thought if fuel can pass through it so can air... and that not good, so i tightened it a little lol

you had me worried then like there was a big spacer block i needed to get in

Misabs are right, but you need the rubbery washers and cups under each nut so there is some compliance.

I agree the ram pipes / trumpets need swapping for shorter ones and feel it would be best if it was set up on the right trumpets with the air filter fitted.

Nice looking engine and bay BTW

Might run better with all the HT leads on too!

defo seriously restricted airflow, as good as a blocked air filter, fuel consumption goes through the roof as what a carb cant pull in in air it pulls through fuel instead, itl be like its choked all the time see.... if you cant get shorter rams cut em down and mig em at least, get em as short as you can, but dont run without em as the airflow around the right angle causes all sorts of its own problems with dcoe's and that will make it drink fuel also.

AHHHH the joys of the lynx manifold :mrgreen:

When i had one fitted to my mk2 escort i had mk1 mex engine mounts fitted and that helped with the space issue a bit. I had more space than you have in your pic. As for the filters i had pipercross socks fitted until they went up in flames one night !!! After that i ran them without.

dam.... iv got the car booked in for a rolling road on friday morngin at 8am... there is no way on this earth that im going to be able to change the trumpets before then as i have to take the manifold off to do it...

glyn, the linkage i used was 30 not the webber ones lol

if i dont have these rubber washers under the nuts or and washers for that matter..... what happens

Had a blonde moment aswell today....

was trying to get the engine to idle.... someone told me which screw it was to adjust but it just didnt seem to be doing anything

As you can see in the photos, when i moved the linkage over the other side.... did i move the idle adjust??? No
