harris horse power Posted June 21, 2008 Author Report Posted June 21, 2008 thanks , do you have any idea how much the would charge to plate a master cylinder?
Retro-gone. Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 if its just std gold zinc plate its dead cheap, cadium plating is banned as far as i know. are you sure its not anodised?
deltamal Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 It's zinc plate with gold passivate, cheap to do, but a lot of plater's have a minimum order charge, so worth a few phone calls....
Toby Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 It is Zinc pass as said. My calipers were £15 cash to do the 4 parts but that firm isn't doing it any more. The problem with zinc passivate is it is rapidly destroyed by road salt.
harris horse power Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 oh right thanks everyone , just out of intreast why is cadium banned now? also does anyone no where i can get the zinc process done near croydon? thanks simon
kevmk2 Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Gold spray on smoothrite, will do the job and last for years Thats what my rear calipers are done in
