what type of plating are the gold master cylinders done in ?

I think it's Cadmium Passivate.

if its just std gold zinc plate its dead cheap, cadium plating is banned as far as i know.

are you sure its not anodised?

It's zinc plate with gold passivate, cheap to do, but a lot of plater's have a minimum order charge, so worth a few phone calls....

It is Zinc pass as said. My calipers were £15 cash to do the 4 parts but that firm isn't doing it any more. The problem with zinc passivate is it is rapidly destroyed by road salt.

Gold spray on smoothrite, will do the job and last for years Thats what my rear calipers are done in
