samurai Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 Id hate to think what its gonna cost me to insure my mex soon! i remember 3 years ago i was thinking it would be interesting to found out how much it would cost me and the car was nowhere to be built yet and i was hearing "your not 24 yet so you cant have a different engine in the car" and "you have to have an alam" and because "you got a different engine in there its gonnna cost you a £100 more" and "because its been done up thats another £100",total i was hearing £1300 at first and the cheapest was £730 when i was 23 i think, now im 26... we will see! i did say this is my first car right...
tazrocks88 Posted November 21, 2006 Author Report Posted November 21, 2006 the thing i dont get is ye fair enough it is gonna cost more to repare if you crash when its done up but surely you will take more care of it too!!!
Danmex Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 the thing i dont get is ye fair enough it is gonna cost more to repare if you crash when its done up but surely you will take more care of it too!!! Thats why you need a specialist insurer, they understand that. No point trying the mainstream insurers they don't need your buisness.
retro_car_man Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 lets face it any one in the 17-21 age group gets stung for insurance, you dont even want to know what i pay for mine

samurai Posted November 21, 2006 Report Posted November 21, 2006 What would be the best place to call then to insure my mex and dont ask that i must have an alam? i think im gonna have a big phone bill next!
Jelly Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 thats a long surname Sad I know, but I giggled. Mate why not just fit an alarm? They're under £100 for a decent one.
samurai Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Because they are crap and make too much noise with no one pays any attenion to them! tracker is the way forward i thinks in time when funs allow

Mexico Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 BAN THAT MAN it is gutting for 17-25 yr olds but i can say i understand why the prices are so high. Its coz we tend to have the most bumps to due to just passing our tests and still learning as we go and chavtastic pieces of crap are generally owned by people our age. Argh well, can't wait till i am 30 lol

BaileyMex Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Mate!!! Call them back and ask for a Classic Car policy with a declaired mileage, you can request an agreed value and its LOADS cheaper
samurai Posted November 22, 2006 Report Posted November 22, 2006 Yeah i said 3000 miles limit and i said its worth £6000 at a guess. Its because it my first car and i have no no claims points,he said if i had 1 or 2 years under the belt it would have been halfed.
