Posse Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I found the easy way to do it is to let someone that does it all the time do it
antz Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 i did the bonnet ones on my dads car and it took me 4 hours. its a right fairy. id get a pro to do it. itll cost you but its so much better than King around yourself to stand backadn think DAMN ITS WONKY or ITS GOT BUBBLES!
mk3tina Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 little bit of fairy liquid and water in a spray bottle and spray the area your going to stick them to. same thing applies for window tinting film etc. gives you the opportunity to move them around to get them just right. then just dry them off with a towel.
omj624p Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 Mk1 or Mk2? Either way, good luck Dont rush, take plenty of time.
fezza Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 little bit of fairy liquid and water in a spray bottle and spray the area your going to stick them to. same thing applies for window tinting film etc. gives you the opportunity to move them around to get them just right. then just dry them off with a towel. Yep thats what i would do or get a pro to do it

mk1sooty Posted July 12, 2008 Author Report Posted July 12, 2008 yeah i think ya right, best leave it to the guys who do it for a living. Thanks for the advise
glenbo Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 as been said before, fairy liquid and water in spray bottle, stickers will slide easily on the car.try with normal pin stripes to see how easy it is first if not confident enough get a proffesional to do it,i know how much the decals cost as i did mess up my first atempt but cracked it second time around
oliver Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 What i do is get some tape(masking) and fit the whole side of the car in 3 pieces. Make sure everything is how you want it. Mark at intervals around the backing paper on it and on the body. Black marker helps. When happy remove decal/tape and remove backing paper. spray body with water/fairy mix and lay decal on the car and align with marks. Grab a card (bank or similar) and squeeze the excess water from the MIDDLE UP Then the MIDDLE DOWN. if you get any edges which wont lay flat use a hair dryer to warm it. this also helps on edges/corners. leave to dry a bit and pull backing off at a 170 degree angle to panel. as you are pulling some may lift. just use your card again to flatten. Its not as hard as people say just time consuming. did my whole mex in 4 hrs.
mk3tina Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 another easy way to do it (if it hasnt just been mentioned differently) is take the stripe (leave the backing paper on) and stick it onto the car with some tape, mark out where it needs to go, cut it into several pieces for the door, rear quarter and the wing, then do the spray bottle on the panel and fit them, then when happy use your card to squeeze the water/fairy mix out.
