kevmk2 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Plus i was doing 10's it on 7" slicks, not 8 or 9" wide ones That's true, there is only so much stick you can throw at a 7" slick!! LOL, i used MG4's but found them useless off the line. Need something stickier

X-pack-Glyn Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Any of you lot do the corners? i mean we all have sideways this sideways that stickers... and all you do is drive in a straight line
kevmk2 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Ive done a few track days in mine. Just got to get a pair of treaded slicks for the front of mine for a track day at Brands in november Thats the problem with most of the quarter mile cars, they would have to change so much to do a track day, plus they run silly compression ratios. I like to have an all round car where you can do a bit of everything

Admin Mk2Jo Posted August 8, 2008 Admin Report Posted August 8, 2008 You are quite right Tody . Luckily I have always managed to handle the track at that bit ... it is along the straight bit that I have a problem with making it go fast

I dont think that is going to happen now, the engine i had my eye on has been sold Be easier to sell the whole car for good money and do a budget car next, but we all know that never happens
kevmk2 Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Your car would look right at home on the track Toby Just need some stiffer suspension all round and some wider tyres on the front
Toby Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 Your car would look right at home on the track Toby Just need some stiffer suspension all round and some wider tyres on the front It's been round Goodwood before, what was really lacking was a good driver!!

With a bit more practice im sure you would be fine, or you could let Ricky Hutchins loose in it

V8ian Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 The week before at the Mopar Nats Stevie Turbo ran a ------- 9.85 @ 144.75mph in his Mk 2 granny!!!! I had a wee chat with a couple of days ago and hee seemed to think the clocks were spot on as the times were within .005 of what his digital timer gave him, but he did say he was surprised his terminals were down from his previous PB @ 10.08 @148

V8ian Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 Still a creditable time for a street car especially as he drives it over from NI to race,
kevmk2 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Cant knock that for a fully trimmed car. Maybe i should go up there whilst the times are out, may get a 9
