30psi MK2 CORTINA Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 Well i bought this today! I have been after a 2 door now for a few years. All the ones i have seen have either been way over priced or to far gone as far as rust goes for my liking. I paid $1300 (about 450 pound) for this car with some of the work already done. I will rub most of it back to see haow well it has been done but i was told it is all steel. I took the old fridgemagnet with me too and it stuck EVERYWHERE! I could also see on the back of the pannels where it had been welded ....... so i was pretty happy This thing is in very good nick and the under side looks better than my 4 door ! which is super good. This car will be a full on build. It will have major chassis work ,cage and the same rear end setup (5 link) as the 4 door. Ill prob go with a carbon bonnet and boot too. The car is going to be black and will use the same gold supelites i have now. Infact most of the good stuff ....brakes /suspension motor exhausts etc will be transfered to the 2 door. I am by NO MEANS about to ruin my 4 door to supply the new car ..... let this be known but will use alot of the suff from it and replace what is taken with some off my old stuff i have laying about. ( note most people would kill to have some of the parts i have spare ) The only down side to this car is there is a few dents in the roof .... again nothing too bad ( my 4 door was worse when i bought that ) the rear boot seal channel is rusted out and will need to be replaced ( you can see it in the pics) And lastly the drivers side rear well in the boot is rusted. That is pretty std for a cortina and straight forward for me to cut out and weld a new one in. The spare wheel well is suprisingly perfect ! which is a bonus. The hardest thing to fix will prob be the boot seal channel but still i dont think it is major surgery. Best bit is all the quaters are spot on and wont require any work which i would consider a bit of a job. I mean its not so hard to cut the rust out of a quater pannel but to weld a new section in without warping the pannel can be tricky..... so im lucky i dont have to do that. You can see some of the rust here..... It is hard to see from this pic but the shot of the boot seal channel is prob the worst of the rust in the car. I should beable to cut this and weld in a new section fairly easy. The car is a 67 model (im yet to confim this) and is actually compete. It comes with the motor / gearbox a 1300cc non crossflow. It has all the door trims ,wipers, seats etc. I will be selling the engine and gearbox along with other various bits. Ill put some of the stuff in the classifides section but if anyone needs stuff send us a pm and ill let you know if i have it spare. I am in australia but will be happy to post any thing over if it is needed.

Kalypzo Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 I love the way you aussie folks go about your Cortina's, pretty much the highlight of whatever mag they feature in. You all seem to think along the lines of "there is no box" rather than thinking "outside the box" to coin a phrase. Looking forward to watching this progress
jaymk1cossieestate Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 i'll be watching this one!! ditto

30psi MK2 CORTINA Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 Cheers guys. It will certainly be something when its done ..... I can say that much. The plans i have for this car are going to make it out of this world. Im gonna get in touch with puddy to see if i can organise a carbon bonnet and boot. If i cant organise one over there ill have to make one up over here. No biggie though. I have been trying to finish my 4 door but keep getting to excited about plans for this one! On a serious note my blue car is almost done. Ill post some update pics soon.
sierra1off Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Come on, spill the beans on the plans for the 2 door Mine will be out next year, a complete wreck of a shell (1967 2 door GT) also got rotted out bootlid gutter chanels, but proper running gear.
30psi MK2 CORTINA Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 Hmmmm im tempted ........but wont give away too much. It will use the same motor as my 4door though. I have grown to love the toyota donk! As for the rest of the car youll just have to wait Now for that pic........shit what is it? Its obviously an 8 ... but what? Is it a 4.6l ? It bloody looks the goods!!!! .Ill say that much I do love the V8s the sound awesome and go like snot. The only thing i dont like about tem is their weight and what it does to the handling. But thats where alloy comes in!
