flyingbanana Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 have you actually managed to find some door seals that work? i brought some from east kent trim and they are so crap its unbelievable i noticed that baz escort hasn't got any at all ....kept inside baz? so what are you using to stop the water getting in ....i really need to sort this has i keep getting a small river inside thanks in advance
Mr.Sumo Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Don"t know bout door seals ...but i"m desparate for a hazard switch Sorry mate.....us mk1 owners always eem to have problems with parts
Baz. Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 M8 i dont really need door seals for my car i brought some from east kent for my modena green escort a few years back and they was spot on, are you sure the water is leaking in from the doors and not around the plenum chamber, thats where most leak from, then the water runs down the bulk head and onto the front floor pans
flyingbanana Posted August 9, 2008 Author Report Posted August 9, 2008 if i know what part is exactly gone i might be able to sort something out....has parts of the switches are swappable in parts ,mainly case, inside contacts, and plastic switch yes we escort people do sometimes have problems with finding parts...then costs ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££
flyingbanana Posted August 9, 2008 Author Report Posted August 9, 2008 i know exactly how its getting in.....the water drips down the seals then sits and the bottom ridge inside...then over flows and the falls inside the car ....i know my front window leaks slightly in the corner but the doors are letting most of the water in...........another problem i have is that its a 4 door and the rear doors cut into the seals (top corner next to the B piller ) when you close the door..........so any help would be very much appricated
Baz. Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 Ive never owned a 4 door mate so i cant really help on that one have you phoned east kent trim and complained??

antz Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 my dad has the original rubbers still on his mk1. sorry mr banana pants
countrybumpkin Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 east kent trim door rubers are usally pretty good when i had my old 4 door i fitted new rubers but i did find in some place's in needed to bend the seam they push over in or out a little to give a nice tight fit on the door
Rick Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 i had mine off ebay and they are perfect. jumblemaster i think id check that your door frame is not bent and that it is adjusted tighter on the striker plate mine was slightly gappy at one end i could see through the seal but tweaked the corner of the door slightly to fit better. of course you wouldnt do that for a huge gap else you may just fook the door and as above^ make sure that the seam isnt bent either that the seal fits over
glenbo Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 the trouble i had with new door rubbers is the doors didnt shut properly, sourced some on ebay and now shuts a treat
Savvi Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 You can put a small cut / nick at the bottom of the cusion rubber (not the bit that goes over the metal) in the middle of the door shut, this then acts like a water drain which stops the water flowing over the top of the seal and into the car. Some of the cars had that from new !!!

You can put a small cut / nick at the bottom of the cusion rubber (not the bit that goes over the metal) in the middle of the door shut, this then acts like a water drain which stops the water flowing over the top of the seal and into the car.
