Supercharged Nat Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 ok so i hear good things about both, but which is the one to have? ive alreadly got a 4-2-1 large bore manifold but im looking into making my own stainless one, more compact and more suited to my application. i need to know should i go for a 4-2-1 again or do i go for a 4-1 i think the 4-1 could be made very simply and and take up alot less room than the 4-2-1. why do manufacturers make them so long? surely 4 short pipes bending into a collector and then one pipe under the car would be ok? what i dont want to do is make up this new manifold and loose power/ torque because of its design. i understand by going from a 4-2-1 to a 4-1 will move the torque about a bit but will it loose power? will i notice the torque shift? any help greatfully received!
SAF_Capri Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 doesnt a 4-2-1 make more torque? and the length of the pipes is designed for best flow? ...im no exhuast specialist tho!

Admin Vista Posted August 16, 2008 Admin Report Posted August 16, 2008 4-2-1 is better for road use with 4-1 giving more power at the top of the rev range and therefore better suited to track use when the engine is up there most of the time.
LEONMEX Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 As vista said 4-2-1 is better for the road, put a ashley system on mine & it works a treat
