I have heard loads of people say it, but my RR operator recommended it to me as an upgrade??

Agreed, I queried going for 48's and was told that for what I wanted the engine would function better with 45's and 40mm chokes. He went on to say that 48's were better suited for a race engine and would spoil all the driveability further down the rev range.

Smokem' send your chokes to me and i'll bore them out whatever size you want

Sounds like a cunning plan Tim. Will have to wait till she comes off the road for winter though. Still a daily driver for my nephew at the moment

You get a greater venturi effect with 40mm chokes in a 48mm body than a 45mm body.

The same as fitting 36mm chokes in 40's. Fit 36mm chokes in 45's and they always drive much better

I used to use smaller chokes for driveability then used an inbetweeny size and now use chokes that are to big  so I've tried most sizes in different size bodys :)
