Was just chilling earlier and heard a noise. I eventually tracked it down to the chimney! there was paper pushed up there as it is not used and i thought "shit!, what the hell is it? a bird? a rat? a squirell?"

so i carefully pulled the paper out expecting a sabre toothed, rabid rat to jump out and tear my throat out.... but it turns out it was........... a bloody pidgeon!!

Poor little bastard was just sitting there now so i carefully pulled it out thinking that it may be hurt and wont be able to fly. (i hate seeing animals suffer) but it sat on my hand, then i took it outside, put it on the floor and it wandered around for a bit and then took off into the neighbours tree!

Awesome. :D

Thats just plain out of order.

If you had rats living in your chimney would you fish them out gently and let them run off (probably into your kitchen cupboards)? Or would you call for the ratman to exterminate them for the vermin they are?

Pigeons are no different, disease ridden pests! We have all sorts of problems with 1000's of them nesting in the shipyard I work in.

Disease risk and damage

Pigeon droppings are not only unsightly; their acid

content can eat into soft stone and cause long-term

damage to buildings. The nest droppings, and feathers

also block gutters and rainwater pipes causing water

damage.

Their droppings can lead to severe hazards on

pavements, especially for the elderly, and can carry

pathogenic organisms.

Pigeons can carry a number of potentially infectious

diseases such as salmonella, tuberculosis and

ornithosis (a mild form of psittacosis - pneumonia-like

symptoms).

They are also a source of allergens, which can cause

respiratory ailments like pigeon fancier's lung and

allergic skin reaction.

There is potential for these illnesses to be spread to

people through contact with pigeon droppings,

dandruff and feathers; pigeon parasites; or where dead

infected pigeons get into food or water sources.

O i forgot they are cute and cuddly

The bird had fallen down the chimney. It didnt go there to piss me off or infect me with a disease. Even lesser life forms such as a bird has the right to live. We are the fookers that are dominating the planet with our over population!

Call me a softy but i wont even kill a spider. Whats the point if i can just remove it out the window?

So is it alright to mistreat animals then, battery hen farms etc. Would you guys twist its neck like a corkscrew?

In some countries dogs are vermin, so are cats, would you then just kill it? As long as there is no threat to me, it lives. Whats wrong with that?

We had a problem with them in our garage. One guy has shot them for 20 years or so, every weekend. He leaves them on the roof of a hut and after the body has decomposed a bit two crows come and eat it.

One day a cleaner had a moan and he stopped shooting them. A week later theyve shat EVERYWHERE and theyre noisey and dirty. Within a week the cleaner had admitted defeat and theyve all had it again.

If they didnt come in they wouldnt get shot. No-one goes out of the way to shoot them, but when they become a pest then they need removing.

Plus its funny to leave a dead pigeon in someones locker as a surprise for the next day, especially when the guy hates them.

I dont want to sit here and get into a long boring debate about this but yes, all animals can carry diseases, us included.

So what if there droppings can mark our buildings, does that mean we should irradicate all birds? just so we can have pretty towns? Its just small mindedness. And bloody annoying.

They probably only get diseases from eating our processed shite foods we leave lying around in our filthy towns. Animals in the wild living in the woods etc wont carry such diseases.

I could go on forever but i wont cos i will sound like a dick.

Live and let live, thats what i say. :?

If you leave tool box open, which has a lot of moneys worth of tools in it, only to return to 7 gallons of fresh steaming muliti coloured flying rat shit your not going to be pleased.

However i do agree with the live and let live philosiphy. Id rather not see them dead. Ill even admit i like pigeons. I love watching them in town. I reckon theyre brill. But there is a point when they become pests. If they werent 'removed' theyd pose a health and safety risk or something anyway.

Nah, kill 'em all. Birds, foxes, seagulls, squirells. Fook it cats, dogs too.
