m1c Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 ...and someone finds em and nicks yer car, does the insurance cover it?
over_head_cam Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Normally only if you tell your ins co as soon as the keys are missing. they may ask you to get the locks changed and it's possible you may have to pay your excess. probably
evil knievel Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 not sure about the insurance part but i'd say probably not act of god, either that or its just plain your fault. (in their eyes.)
toad650 Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 unless there caught red handed with your keys who's to know?? I use to be able to get into my cappa with my house keys and my spare keys are the old keys from my MK1 fiesta so its not like you even need to rip the ignition out any old key fits an old lock.
caprinerd Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 if you lose your keys then its best to inform the police and they give you a security number of sorts and if you car goes missing or your house gets done over with in a period of time your insurance is valid the time period is to get locks changed , inform your insurance company that you reported it and have a security number and then they pay out, hope this helps
Toby Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 I had a friend who had them nicked out of her handbag, and then the car was nicked I also have a mate who left them is his car and got paid out, admittedly with a reduced pay out. I also have a mate who left them in a car and they didn't pay up at all. There doesn't seem to be any hard and fast rules. The trouble with honesty is it doesn't always pay off.
