Id like bike carbs, I saw the ebay purchase on the thread I put above which seems OK.

I assume you have to still buy the linkages, but what else?

dj rich here! :ykt::mrgreen: late reply cos last nite i was :beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

ring bogg bross or sign up to locost forum, thats what i did... rule of thumb, mikuni's are a wee bit more consuming but more balls out and kehein are slightly more economic town centre friendly!

some people will tell you that you need the all singing, all dancing carbs... but really, just make sure you get the right choke size... which i believe is between 36-38mm....

suzuki gsxr carbs, cheap and good, yamaha r1 flatsides, really good bu more pricey!

Well if you're not doing much with the motor, they should be ok... Don't forget they came off a bike that revs to about 10k, so on a mild tune Pinto, I don't reckon they'd be bad. I put some very similar ones on my mate's Yam XJ550 and they sound GORGEOUS!

That sorta fing is what you're after though. Mechanically operated slides rather than vacuum operated.

nice one bud how do i get over the push pull system if it has that set up ?

would a return spring sort it out

To be honest, you really don't need the other cable. The ones on my mate's XJ are fine with just the 'pull' cable. The 'push' is just typical Jap overengineering. The carbs have got a ruddy great spring on 'em to shut the slides anyway. Keep 'em clean and lubed up, shouldn't have any problems.

ok the next question is what pump set up do i use? do i need a pressure regulator? and what sive pipe and fittings do i need?

sorry for all the questions but bike carb set up are like knitting to me

(i know nothing)

Posted

Bike carbs are generally gravity-fed, so yes to the pressure regulator. No, I have no idea what pressure they'd take before overflowing.

Pipe size is usually about 8mm off the top of me head. Shouldn't need any fancy fittings.

And i'd not worry about carbs icing up on em left a Fireblade outside in 4 below zero ( Yup it gets cold in Scotland! ) And bike fired up no probs and it was covered in snow

NO PRESSURE REGULATOR JUST USE BIKE PUMP IM USING A R1 PUMP .RUNS FINE ONLY PUMPS WHAT IT NEEDS :wink: GOT ONE ON E BAY FOR 15 SQUID :lol:LOW PRESSURE HIGH CAPACITY :D

Spot on there mate and remember it can feed a bike thats quite able to top 160mph. It wont struggle to keep a car in Petrol, also a mate of mine races an early Carbed R1 and its still running the standard fuel pump and that bike is moddified to a VERY high spec and was clocked @202.5mph (On race gearing) and again the standard pump managed just fine
