jamie k Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 i was giving ma transit stick today and a light came on it looked like a cog with exclamation mark in the middle then it wouldnt go above 2000 rpm till i turned it off and started it again. any ideas . the vans a 56 plate not osf i know but am a bit worried
FredTransit Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Well i was trying to work it out till you said 56 plate! . I think a trip to the stealers to get the fault codes read might be in order. There be dragons as far as i am concerned.....
BaileyMex Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 it'll be in safe mode, the ECU limits what the engine will do dur to the fact it things there is a problem with it kind of a get you home mode sad I know but i spend 10 hours a day with the bloody things
FredTransit Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 Safe mode? Hmmm on the Mk2 that will be driving it gently. I can't be doing with these microchips telling me what I should do.
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 Have you fiddled with it at all mate? i.e. 'wound it up'? The reason I ask is my mates Transit was doing the exact same thing, but he likes to have a fiddle. He adjusted the wastegate on the turbocharger which gave it a bit more boost, but, when the turbo spun up the ECU wondered where the extra boost was coming from then went into 'get you home mode'. On the odd occasion when it didn't shut down, it went like a bullet. He has wound it back out now and all is fine
evil knievel Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 it'll be in safe mode, the ECU limits what the engine will do dur to the fact it things there is a problem with it kind of a get you home mode sad I know but i spend 10 hours a day with the bloody things Thats exactly what it is. It puts you into 'limp home mode' or 'safe mode' so to avoid breaking down. Must be a fault with the engine if you haven't fiddled with it, get the fault codes read.
