Savvi Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Had a call from a guy saying he had some Mk1 spares for sale would i be interested ? Went to meet him had a look at the mention parts and he said my mate has a shell if your interested ? So a quick call and went went about a mile up the road to find this: It has no paperwork but the vin is: BBATNR I know its a 1300L but wondered if it's tax free ? If so it might be worth me welding it up Needs Floorpans Doors Bonnet Arches etc but i've seen worse repaired. It's a "L" reg. Going back to pick it up next week
Lukey48screamer Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Thats mint mate! No honestly it dont look too bad, its 1973 so I think its just outside tax free - Ud have to chase up the VIN to see if it was built/regstred before 1st Jan 73.. would be easier with log book but hey good find
Savvi Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 £350 ? With all the pars that he offered me. wiring loom complete square headlight grill & lights glass 6 dial dash & top wiper motor under dash washer bottle suspension 3 radiators bumpers heater steering wheel and more smaller items.
FredTransit Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 How do you know it's an L reg? If you know the plate, run it through the vehicle check at the DVLA website.
Savvi Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 Number plates are in the boot ................... it's not on dvla website as it's been sat for about 10 years. Just looked it's May '73 so looks like it missed tax free ?
FredTransit Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Where does it say May 73? Could it be built just 6 months earlier? If so it's tax free.
Savvi Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 I'm not sure how you tell when it's built but the vin number shows NR which means it's May '73 ?
capriaddict Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 my book says 'NR' was built in June 1973
caprinerd Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 my book says 'NR' was built in June 1973 same as mate
FredTransit Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Oh dear, it's getting worse . Looks like it's not tax free then. Never mind, still a good find though
escort new boy Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 £350, youd get that all day long on flea bay thats how i look at it. Cheers
Savvi Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 Bugger i'll have to weigh it in Just noticed the N/s top mount has never been welded............. I'll wait til i get it back and see how bad it is
Lukey48screamer Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Weighing that in is treason my friend! Someone somewhere will do the work it deserves
FredTransit Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Too right. It's not always about a quick quid for scrap.
Savvi Posted August 30, 2008 Author Report Posted August 30, 2008 Reg number is TBH 437L if anyone can get any details ?
DarrenM Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 I'd just put the plates back on, clean it up and put it on ebay 99p start and no reserve. It should £700ish.
FredTransit Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Vehicle details could not be found As it has not been possible to locate the vehicle details, your enquiry cannot proceed and has been cancelled. If you want to check the vehicle record held by DVLA... Not good. doesn't mean you can't put it back on the road though. With the VIN number you can get the reg back. You need the forms from the DVLA.
Savvi Posted August 30, 2008 Author Report Posted August 30, 2008 I tried phoning dvla and "due to industrial action we are unable to take your call" Is it the normal V5 application form ? I'll get it back next week and see how bad it is may use it for one of the race cars or put it back on the road.
CrazyCharlie Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 why can't i ever find something cool like that
FredTransit Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 I tried phoning dvla and "due to industrial action we are unable to take your call" Is it the normal V5 application form ? I'll get it back next week and see how bad it is may use it for one of the race cars or put it back on the road. I would start with the application (V62) and see what the DVLA say. You have all the information on the car, the chassis number and reg. just one thing, it could be that the reg has been sold to put on a non ford, which is why the details can't be found. The DVLA will know this, if you phone them again.
FredTransit Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Just ran the plate through another site and the number came up as a DAF. So ran it again at the DVLA and got this The vehicle details for TBH 437L are: Date of Liability 01 03 1987 Date of First Registration 18 05 1973 Year of Manufacture Not Available Cylinder Capacity (cc) 844CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour WHITE Vehicle Type Approval null This vehicle can be licensed at a DVLA Local Office without the V5C Registration Certificate The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry. Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £66.00 12 Months Rate £120.00 Though even THAT hasn't been taxed since 87! It could have been re issued as a private plate. I would talk to the DVLA about it. It's still possible for you to get a new age related plate for it.
