he will have you if he is any kind of driver if he is a fairy he will lose because all of there power is above 6k with the xe you should have him if its modified you will have him my car with the xe in it will take down scooby's and m3's to a ton, and coming back from the pod i was holding my own against rouch mustang he was quicker than me but i was a lot closer than he thought i would be, but the taxi driver who let me out so i could play with him was pissing him self with laughter cos i was staying with him in an escort and i got a big thumbs up from him :lol::lol:

I love these conversations!

I think you will beat him to 30 or 40mph. they don't have a great deal of torque and the one I saw at the strip was also around a 15.5sec 1/4 mile. But I'm guessing your Capri would be low-mid 16's realistically.

Romantic idea, but I think you're loosing the power and the weight card!

Might have him with traction from some traffic lights but not for long I wouldn't have thought.....

How mouthy have you been?:lol:

Yeh i like these conversations too, ...im thinking i could suprise him, not beat him, he took me for a spin in his and to be honest i wasnt impressed as i thought i would be by the v-tec,...my old beamer with double valve timining gave more of a kick in the arse.

....role on the XE ... just need those six numbers or keep ebaying my spares :D

on that 2.0 pinto if its set up right on your spec.... you probably would to a STANDARD type R

you just race him upto 70 (while still in front) and then slam on saying "i thought i saw a copper......)

you win, no speeding tickets :D

you have a big advantage off the line, from the lack of vetec and the big advantage of RWD grip, i tusseled with a couple of type r's with my old setup which is same to yours and the type r's are over rated

oh also.... atm they dont stand any chance anymore (2.0 zetec just kicked in yo!)

haha

Toby have you checked out the weights of modern cars recently???

example Mk1 RS2000 against the first series RS Focus, up to about 70, theres not a lot in it, especially as the focus has about twice the HP, then start looking at the Kerb weights, the focus is nearly 450kg heavier than the Escort. Technoligy may be clever, but it aint light.

Thats assuming the foucs is around 1300kg and the Escort is 850kg

Completely agree mate, most new stuff is really heavy, which is great for comfort but no good for acceleration or mpg, however I thought the Type R's (early ones) where still quite light and about 200 hp :?

But you're right it's why so many new cars are slugs. :ykt:

Nicked off a web site....

"The specifications of the latest red-badged Honda, the Civic Type R, have been released. Power and torque figures are much the same as the previous model, but delivery is said to be more linear throughout the rev range. Improvements to aerodynamics (not quantified by Honda), coupled with changes to the overall gearing, help to mitigate the heavier kerb weight.

With a 201 PS shove from the 2 litre DOHC i-VTEC engine, the 0-100 km/h sprint is over in 6.6 seconds, and the top speed is claimed to be 235 km/h. The engine transmits its power through a six speed manual gearbox. CO2 emissions are 215 g/km. The sportier looking body sits 15 mm lower than the standard Civics, and rides on 18 inch wheels shod with 225/40 profile rubber.

A lightweight Type R is in the pipeline. With various bits and pieces trimmed from the specification, the kerb weight drops by a claimed 40 kg. The standard Type R tips the scales at just over 1300 kg, which is already fairly light by modern standards."

So not dead light but this is refering to the later one.
