i have just won another Mk2 transit off ebay. I asked if there was any tax, and was told it had just run out. On running the plate through the DVLA website, it's showing as having just been taxed, and not being due till sept next year. I am thinking it may have been cashed in, but why tax a van they sell it? Six months maybe, but 12? At least if it's showing as taxed I will be OK for the drive home.

Ah you are right, I thought when it says Date of Liability I thought that only applied to the road tax, not just the SORN. Ah well I will still drive it home, if it's seen on any camera it won't be in my name, and then I will tax it so it will go back to the 1st of the month.

the tax thing may be due to the seller removing the tax before selling the van and surrendering it for a refund, which may not have gone thru the system yet,

Another possibility is, which I have heard of happening, if the vehical has not been registered when the old style log book changed to the new style, the DVLA has assumed the vehical has been destroyed, and, as the numberplate is still owned by the DVLA they retain the rights to sell it on at a later date,

I dont know how you stand if this is the case,
