J_mk1 Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 not neccescarily, mk1 mexico posted he made 170bhp and 170 torques the other day with his zetec
mk1mexico Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 but.... the zetec is the same engine as the duratec ST found in fiesta ST's etc etc etc. Iv been avoiding this thread on purpose as they generally annoy me But i have to say Mr Cake that statement is just wrong. There isnt one likeness between those two engines you quoted, that i can think of Say a zetec costs 3k to get in, running sweet and making 180bhp. You would probably need near this kind of cash to get a pinto in there making similar power. When they both go bang (theoretically) the zetec bottom end can be replaced with another 50 quid (standard)motor from the scrappy, the pinto needs a rebuild to replace whatever broke. Because you wont get a 180 horsepower pinto bottom end for 50 quid. And who's car has the crowd round it under the bonnet at shows?? If thats your thing.
kirk10 Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 think im going to fit a zetec now like has been said its a bit more expensive to fit first time to buy all the stuff but if things go titts up then its alot easyer and cheaper to get another zetec than it would be to find and have a pinto rebuilt

If thats your thing. fair point, i thought they were the same lol. and yeh and the people crowding round the engine bay at shows =o) its true! also when you see a pinto with 45's you generally think 170-180bhp (well i do anyway) and when you see a zetec on 45's you think... mmm what power could that be running, looks mean!
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 pinto easy to fit very tunable and its oldskool
kirk10 Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 is the wiring really as hard as it looks to fit a zetec into a mk1 escort
chrisd Posted October 31, 2008 Author Report Posted October 31, 2008 Before i had my mk 2 i had a westfield se with a 20l zetec on 45s running a standard rs2000 axle and my god the thing went from 0-60 in under 4 secs which is down to weight but the point im trying to make is i rung its neck every time i got in it and it never broke just begged for more !!
