Heyoop, this sounds familiar!

I have fooking big ol 315mm discs on the front with brembo 4 pots @ front with 4 pots at the rear etc and my brakes are exactly like you describe!

Rock hard pedal, but it feels like the brakes just arent really doing much!!

i havent driven my car a great deal but i dont think its the pads though??

will be watching this one!

sounds like you need to drop a size in master cyl, that will make the pedal longer with more feel, it may also be the pads need bedding in, they may improve, but if the pedal is too hard, bleeding will not cure it, if you had air in the system the pedal would initially be soft but it will pump up hard, leave 20secs and it should be spongey again

have you plumbed the master cylinders in backwards???

Who worked out what size master cylinders you were using?

as above sounds like the wrong size master cylinders were used!

my brakes now are pretty tough and require a good shove to get them working, you checked the balance on your balance bar?

pressing the brakes as hard as possible to see which lock first, should be your fronts locking first when the balance bar is near enough in the middle of its travel.

basically cause your not running a servo no more, the pedal will be hard but with a strongish right foot locking the brakes shouldnt be a problem, thing is a servo was made to make it easier to brake on the road with disks, without this it will need a good ol' shove, but when you're off round the track if you want to stop...... you'll press that pedal hard enough!!!

also what pads you running?

i found when i was running redstuff pads you really had to jam the pedal hard when the pads were cold to get any sort of braking, but im now running some crappo lockwood or something pads and they have a lot better cold bite and make it a lot easier!

but as you can guess the lockwood pads do fade whereas on the track etc the redstuff just get better and better, and once they are up to temparature its not bad at all!

hope this helps

i have the same brakes without servo and standard pedal box

they initially feel a bit crap if your used to servo assisted brakes, with this setup you gotta press harder to brake harder.

dont know much about bias boxes, but on the standard pedal box i had to change the lever that links the pedal to the cylinder to get the right amount of travel when pressing.

cheers boys, may just be me being a pussy with the brake pedal?the pedal box and cylinders came from rally design, willwood cylinders .750 and .625 i think,lm doing some work on it tonlght so i will check.

have had a bit of a mess this weekend, cylinders are willwood .750 rear and .625 fronts.

have tried my hardest to get the brakes to lock and they just wont.have done around 250 miles now since completly rebuildind the car, both front and rear pads which are standard (mintex rear, standard fast road willwood fronts) are wearing evenly.

running 7" rims with r888 toyos.

have read a few posts that gary from retro motorsport has answered to covering master cylinder bore size and bias box setup.unfortunatly the weather turned sh$t so returned to the warm and the net to do a little research.

Any ideas or advice would be more than welcome :ykt:

sounds alright to me,

you tried two feet on the brake pedal?

and have you tried the brakes with the balance bar screwed all the way in (100% rear) and all the way to the other way (100% to the front) and can you make the front and rear lock separate

(the rear should be easy to lock) but with r888's the fronts might take a bit more of a shove!)
