PIG Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 im running 225/35/17's road tyres on my 9inch rims but running 235/40/17's on my other rims(no pics with tyres yet tho
marky4 Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 but would a 185 over a 7j not catch like mad? forgive my ignornace im used to only having to find two matching soft compounds tires depends on the wheel and how low the car is, if superlights yes, my Ml'S rubbed slightly on drivers side rear arch if cornering hard but took 3 years (8k miles) to start rubbing writing of side wall, but what ever wheel the arches need to be rolled
caprinerd Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 aint there a chance of the rim grounding on heavy cornering
Lukey48screamer Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 175/50/13's on a 7inch rim are fine, just grab a tape measure and see how many inches the 175mm makes... abra cadabra 7 inches! I.e. Not stretched
Lukey48screamer Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 you want stretched, ok........... ..... Btw I must say this ford ka or whatever it is looks fookin shite!

Retro-gone. Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 not been very educated when it comes to tyre sizes and choices , what would be acceptable on my 5jx13 rostyles? at mo ive got 185/70x13's on but they look far too skinny and high, what would make them look chunkier ? would 185/60x13's look any better? and would they be safe? i need some new tyres but really dont want to stay on these skinny 185/70's..

boXXer Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 http://www.tyrestretch.com and that's how we doooooo's it!

Retro-gone. Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 now i just totally confused lol, bring back the good old days when no-one knew or cared about wheels an tyres .
antz Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 now i just totally confused lol, bring back the good old days when no-one knew or cared about wheels an tyres . smaller profile tyre will icnrease road noise slightly, make the car a tiny bit rougher and it will rev more at higher speeds...think of it like this: my wheel with a 185/60 will have to turn further to go the same distance as your wheel with a 185/70 as its bigger
Retro-gone. Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 pantz i cant concentrate on what your saying with those two havin a good ol' les up

antz Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 dammit you are right...my mind was not thinking edited my original post so it actually makes sense
bazzil Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 nice one, im still unsure about putting 175/50's on my 8 j rims. I have 175/50s on 7-1/2 js not for show but to clear the inner arches.................no problems re grip ect unless I wanting to go sideways
