pauline Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 one things for sure your not gonna get any better sitting on here debating it get the welder out the box and have a go. you might be a natural metal stitching god but its cold outside put some warm threads on then you will so warm up. have a go. I started doinga evening course before i moved house loved it worth doing. if you blow holes in things just take it with a pinch of salt. practice on scrap pieces frist untill you get used to it.

Rick Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 even if you do blow holes you can fill em with weld and grind it back. no hole

qwerty Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Antz I am pretty much in exactly the same predicament!! I'm slightly futher forward in the fact I've had a little go with my mate laying some beads and stuff. Infact I even mended my lawnmower!! It was a great feeling. One piece of advice, don't use the gas supplied with the welder. I bought a little canister of Argon/CO2 and it made a HUGE difference to my welds. Keep us updated so you can hopefully chivy me on to having a look at my inner wings!
antz Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 my welder is a gassless one which ive been told is rubbish which is a bit annoying cos it was a present from my mum. but its my welder and im gonan use it cos i want to and i like the fact its bright yellow will have a go on saturday adn thats a promise
qwerty Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 What kind of welder is it? Some can be converted to Gas. Might be worth looking into.
antz Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 What kind of welder is it? Some can be converted to Gas. Might be worth looking into. fook knows its in the box at the back of the garage

qwerty Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I knwo the feeling. I was supposed to do my pads on Sunday......then on monday and now it'll have to wait till this Sunday.....Was also supposed to go to the Scrappies to pick up some more Mondy wheels and I put that off. Funny how absolutely nothing can get in the way of important stuff like watching the TV and lying in bed
surfingturnip Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 get outside, practice then fix it you great pouf
atomic punk Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 my welder is a gassless one which ive been told is rubbish which is a bit annoying cos it was a present from my mum. but its my welder and im gonan use it cos i want to and i like the fact its bright yellow will have a go on saturday adn thats a promise They usually can be converted easily enough, if it has the little clear plastic tube. All you need is a regulator (these can be got from Ebay - will give you a link if you want) and to reverse the wires coming out (the ones on the sifde of the machione that unscrew) Good luck
walsh253 Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 i bet your mum is happy spending her money on a welder so it can see at the back of your garage!! just get some scrap metal and practice and stop all this its cold outside s###! some people just love to moan about everything
