MightySprocket Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 a KA serious question I have aquired a KA for my winter driver and have to be honest its really good fun, but.... during the summer would like to make it MORE fun and thought rather than CVH/Zetec power id go with a quick pushrod! make a great track car runs and hides

MightySprocket Posted November 7, 2008 Author Report Posted November 7, 2008 Well they do come with pushrods based on the kent.... how similar it actually is I don't know!? They're supposed to handle pretty well very well, wheels right out at the corners and this ones had a 50mm lowering kit
Mr Sam Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 ive allways fancied one but they still seem to fetch silly money even for the old ones.....and DO IT
Rick Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 iv had the pleasure of driving one of these.. and i have to say KA's are the most hideous cars iv ever driven
pauln Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 You won't get it through the emissions at the next MOT. Spend the money on something worthwhile.
Fiesta Steve Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 a KA serious question I have aquired a KA for my winter driver and have to be honest its really good fun, but.... during the summer would like to make it MORE fun and thought rather than CVH/Zetec power id go with a quick pushrod! make a great track car runs and hides If zetecs and CVH's fit them the crossflow should fall in m8 They are smaller, lighter and more areo dymamic than Mk1 Fiesta, I rekon I could run 12's in that
V6MAT Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 im hoping to put some laser 4 spokes on my mk5 fiesta!
bmxdave Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Youd have to use a fiesta FWD engine, but other then that theres nothing stopping you.
emu Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 You won't get it through the emissions at the next MOT. Spend the money on something worthwhile. Why not? The emmisions test is based on whichever is older, the engine or the car. If its a 1700 X-flow then it will probably be pre-86 (?) and provided you can prove it it should be tested accordingly http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_730.htm
supersport Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 engine mounts different, sit next the the thermostat housing. might be worth sitting the engines next to each other to see if it will fit.
NginEEr Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 im hoping to put some laser 4 spokes on my mk5 fiesta! i fitted them to my fiesta mk5 fiesta but then sold them too my mate who fitted them to his mk4 fiesta.
Mick The Cabbie Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Nice motor. The black bonnet really suits it! They're the same set up as a Fezza. So you'd need to start with a Mk1 XR2 pushrod lump. These have the engine mounts in the right place for the KA unlike an Escort lump which is no good for FWD conversions
antz Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 my ex-girlfriend wrote one off. when we were on our way back from the cinema ...smashed it head on into a mazda 3 on a dark december night taking a corner way to fast in the wet. personally i cant stand the things.
TwoLitrePinto Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 i think as long as its older than about 52 plate it will probably have the completely crap 1300 endura engine which is basically a modern injection xflow with a coil pack, crank sensor, EFi, PAS etc etc. the engines r not the same as xflow but same design... cant see why a xflow wont go in just use the 1300 ka box and mix and match a clutch. get rid of all the wiring. if its got a power steering rack u will need to do something about that! maybe you could get the PAS pump to fit on a xflow

So in theory I could put an 80s V8 in my omega and it would pass emissions (hmm plan forming).
