MK1 Dave Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Wheres the fireblades eh? You mean FireBlands? Probably tucked up with their pipe and slippers like their owners
stevepeanut Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 I remember when the first blades come out, and there were a few old slingshoot gsxr 1100s with a little slogan on the bottom of the reg plate "only homosexuals ride fireblades"
stevepeanut Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 I used to have the last model injected gsxr 750 srad and that kicked the blades arse in most of the magazine tests
MK1 Dave Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 The 'Bland is still very much the born-again's choice
stevepeanut Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 my mate had a RRT blade 1996 I think, hells teeth have you ever ridden a blade with the 16inch front wheel and 130 tyre? Its bloody bad, steers so quick with no feel whatsoever, feels like its just going to wash out. He had crashed it a couple of times and bought a replica faring in the castrol superbike colours. He wanted to part ex it for a CCM supermoto. He had to babysit so asked me to take the bike to the dealers and get it valued. They refused to even give a part ex value saying it looked like an ex race bike (which it genuinely wasn't). I laughed so much but my mate was gutted!
Gonzo Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 Guzzis are definitely worth a look. Yes they're italian, but they seem to be sorting the reliability [which was mostly erectrix anyway] out now. Mate's got an old 850 T3 California which he's pushing 150,000 miles on now. Aside from the odd pair of barrels and pistons and I think 2 UJ's only recently, nothing mechanical's ever gone wrong with it. Says he'll let me have a go on it once I'm fully comp on my GPz900. And get the Ahamay! You know you want to! Sod what the missus says. She's already got a bike so can't say sh*t.
MK1 Dave Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 We're very much a biker family here. Can't ever see us not having them. We'd love a BMW GS each
bazbiker Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 I have to say im not keen on GayBlades ether, I know loads of people do like them but they are just a bit bland and boring for me So have we all confused the shit out of you yet about which bike to get?
stevepeanut Posted December 24, 2008 Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 So have we all confused the shit out of you yet about which bike to get? yeah totally haha. I'm in no desperate hurry to get one. I really do like guzzis, theres a big dealer called motostrada near me, been in a few times to check them out. A lot of the stuff I like, such as guzzis and the speed triple are around £7000 and £8000 + finance. Still the XJR1300 looks bloody good value at £5600 and 0%. I might try and get a test ride on one over the holidays. Still love bandit 1200 too, had an early one a few years ago that I fixed up from a cat C right off, was a great bike.
Fiesta Steve Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 I was going to post a pic of my FireBlade but don't think I'll fookin bother now.

And yes iam a cock and love honda fireblades Oh and merry xmas
petrolhead01 Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 I was going to post a pic of my FireBlade but don't think I'll fookin bother now. urban tiger blade and it stayed with me threw all of these till last year when i decided i dont use it enough and it was a waste to leave it covered in the garage any longer!! regret selling it but dont you always!! by the time i finished playing with it it had just over 157 bhp at the back wheel and looked like this!!! it had a two brothers bigbore barrel and pistons, square slide carbs, full RACE sysyem not the ponsy road/race systems they sell now days ect the list goes on all the polishing including the inside if the frame was done by me , well actually everything was !!! .the fireblade is a cult symbol like the gsxr and will life on for ever..... my bike was actually bought back by a dealer for advertising the new blade at fireblade day at silverstone i think!! here's some pics! shit i miss it now but with the weather and the drivers today im glad she has gone or either i or my license would have!! lol enjoy!

The hydraulic clutch on the XJR is very heavy in my opinion, so bear that in mind. We've got a baby Blade! Gear driven cams
stevepeanut Posted December 27, 2008 Author Report Posted December 27, 2008 just bought mcn and bike trader today, so gonna have a read and see what deals are on
Fiesta Steve Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 Nice Blade Tony !! I'll have to scan some pics of mine one day as I have only got proper old photo's lol. My bike is the same early model as yours (the best IMO) it too has a polished frame, plus a polished and braced single sided swing arm, Ducati 916 rear wheel, VRT 17" front wheel, VTR front brakes, full carbon fibre bodywork, cut down carbon can under seat, the list goes on The way I look at it is this, I know there are much better bikes out there today but to me the Fireblade is like the 5ierra Cosworth, when it was first launched it was simply the best. Other manufacturers may have better machines now, but it took them a while to catch up. I remember when the Fireblade was first raced round the IoM and an almost standard bike smashed TT record !! Can't have been bad
