KJ 1320 Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Do you think any of the pictures were yours then Tim
tim Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 no i dont think any of them are mine and didnt say they were,i was just sayin about copywrite and reproducing the photos with out permission from the photographier or person that owns the image
Posse Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Tim all pics that are in the calender were given to us by the owners of the cars ?Where did they get them from? Do you have to sign your live away when you have got pics of your own cars ? Also ill take on board what your are saying as i do see a lot on pics from here and content in mags does that mean there all mine?
OldskoolSue Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 calender looks good but i hope you had permission to use all the pics, reconise some of the pics from classic ford/retro ford yes thanks from all of the members that submitted there pictures it says MEMBERS who submitted their pics so i cant see their being a prooblem, they obviously wanted their pics to be in it
KJ 1320 Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 So when you go to a show do you personally get permission from the vehicle owners of the cars that you take pictures of.
tim Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 the main pic that caugh my eye was the march picture of the mk2 cortina,as i know this was taken for a mag feature so this imaged is owned by the person who took it or the mag publisher. i only mentioned copyright in the first place to warn you not to shit stir.
OldskoolSue Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 wasnt the calender just for osf members? i could understand if it was for sale worldwide and in the shops edited to say...if i have a pic of my car taken by a photographer then surely i can use it in whatever way i see fit? surely the pic belongs to me ? i dont understand all this copyright stuff but i see it as its my car and thats that..am i wrong?
KJ 1320 Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 When you have a mag feature and you don't sign anything waivering your rights to the photos then surely the photos of YOUR car are yours to use as you want. normally as a gentlemans agreement is not to post any pics until your car has come out in print
Admin Vista Posted January 4, 2009 Admin Report Posted January 4, 2009 the main pic that caugh my eye was the march picture of the mk2 cortina,as i know this was taken for a mag feature so this imaged is owned by the person who took it or the mag publisher.i only mentioned copyright in the first place to warn you not to shit stir. Personally whilst I hear what you're saying and I'm sure your intention wasn't to shit stir, I absolutely couldn't give a monkeys about the photographers "copyright" claim. It has always really irritated me that "photographers" can walk around shows taking snaps of peoples cars and then sell them for profit without any offer of payment to the owner of the car. All sorts of pictures of my car are available to buy on ebay and it pisses me off no end! Let's face it, who put the real hard work in? The owner / restorer of the car or the photographer?
awesome Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 the main pic that caugh my eye was the march picture of the mk2 cortina,as i know this was taken for a mag feature so this imaged is owned by the person who took it or the mag publisher.i only mentioned copyright in the first place to warn you not to shit stir. Let's face it, who put the real hard work in? The owner / restorer of the car or the photographer? Being a professional photographer and have had my Studio work copied loads of times dose piss you off but i've never taken any one to court i've even had customers bring in copies done of my work for framing by me,They say they didn't know they were even doing any thing wrong..... we charge a lot more for our Wedding Photography now to make up for losses on people copying and lack of reprint orders............ wish i had ordered the calendar this year as there are two of my car on there,Thanks Posse for scanning them in and putting them up for all too see, I bet you will have more orders next year as every one can see what a good job was done on this years Calendar Happy new year and Thanks again Wayne
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 5, 2009 Admin Report Posted January 5, 2009 Last year we contacted all of the photographers who took the photos for both CF and RF mags to ask if we could use their pics and they were all very happy for us to use the photo's in our OSF Calendar as they are only produced in limited numbers (100) and are not sold for a profit. This year we did not get around to contacting the photographers (and they do have copyrights on their photo's) but we would hope that they would take the same stance. If the photographers wish to sue for a % of any profit made from the calendars then we will have to pay them the few pounds that we made from producing the calenders for our members. Once again we only made 100 calendars and they were only advertised on here. Please accept this post as a public Thank You to the photographers whose pictures we have used in this non-profit making venture
duttnut Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 I was just happy to see both my cars on the calender, to me it feels like an achievement to have people interested in my work, so this is a thankyou for using my pics, I got enjoyment from looking at my cars, so I'm glad somene else will too
