mk2_escort_chick Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 ...at work packing up all of our stock for its journey to its new store. Gutted! 3 years I've been there and to be told y'day that we've all been made redundant is just poo! We wont even get redundancy pay, because the company is backwards & couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. Thank you very much Barratts!!! On the plus side 2moz is our last day to get everything packed up and we're allowed to bring booze in. Dean will be taking me to work 2moz & I plan on being carried out of the building! It's sad to see us go, but we was one of the stores that got the chop. I've made some fantastic friendships over the years though One of my best mates is a Deputy Manager of a branch and his store is now closed too Rant over peeps
Mrs O/H/C Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Hiya hun, as said on FB i am sorry for you, but you have to have the best day at work 2morrow ..... i think you are going to be one of many this year with the same news . Good Luck in finding a new job
mk2_escort_chick Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 Cheers chick! We'll prob put a few cv's in at the other stores in Bluewater and then hit the booze hard. We'll go out with a bang 2moz-should be fun, but at the same time emotional
Dr Feelgood Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 sorry to hear that but i hope you find something soon
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Ah that's poo news chicken Keep your chin up though, because as one door closes, another always opens Onwards & upwards
over_head_cam Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Chin up luv. There is something out there just 'round the corner
Fiesta Steve Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Sorry to hear this bad news But why are you not getting redundancy pay, you should be entitiled to it, its the law. I go to citizens advise just incase they you are being stiched, many companys try it on, and many people don't bother to follow it up and lose out on hundreds or thousands of pounds. I've been made redundant twice in my short life already, you should get 1 weeks paid notice for every year and 1 weeks redundancy pay for each year so 6 weeks money.
lotusless Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 boozing at work quality!! hope you get sorted again soon
mk2_escort_chick Posted February 20, 2009 Author Report Posted February 20, 2009 Cheers everyone Steve-don't you worry I'm gonna get as much out of them as possible. We're all looking into what we're entitled too and trust me-I'll be claiming! It's just really sad to think that 2moz will be the last time the Bluewater Barratts crew will be working together. So many stores have gone though, just wish we'd of been one of the ones that had been saved.

Admin Mk2Jo Posted February 24, 2009 Admin Report Posted February 24, 2009 Sarah, as long as you have worked there for 2 years and the company has not gone bust then you are LEGALLY entitled to redundancy money. See here: "Redundancy pay basics: You have the right to a redundancy payment if you are an employee who has worked continuously for your employer for at least two years and you are being made redundant. Redundancy pay is also due when a fixed-term contract of two years or more expires and is not renewed because of redundancy. You do not have to claim redundancy pay from your employer, they should automatically pay it to you. If your employer does not give you redundancy pay when you are entitled to it you should write to them asking for payment. If your employer still refuses to pay you or cannot make the payment you could make an appeal to an Employment Tribunal." See this website for the amount due to you as well: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_4017972 Good luck missus
