brettp Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 stick low gears in it if you got the 5 speed the gears are well long any way
escortwithsunroof Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 smaller tyres on the back , marginal K&N free flow pipe fuel additive
stevepeanut Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 yours should have a 3.09 ratio in the axle, put in a 3.44 from a 2.0 litre capri, loose a tiny bit top speed, but gain a bit more accleration, I did that to my 2.8 last year. Either retro or classic ford mag did this mod to a 2.8 and it made a noticeable difference when datalogged on acceleration.

Retroford did it and it still couldn't keep up with me and my "cruising" 3.54 equipped escort
stevepeanut Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 you could also consider the stripped out route. Interior, rear seats, carpets, trim, it all adds up to a lot of weight I stripped all this out of my capri last year, it was quicker and better on fuel too. But bloody loud and felt cold inside. A stripped out car is not for everyone, I'm not sure if I'd do it again to a car, but its one way to go quicker without spending any money.

stevepeanut Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 my 2.8 cappa at the mo is a bit slugish an take a while to get up to speed wot can i do to get a bit of speed an acceleration whilst on a budget thing is, we probs need an idea of your budget your budget might be £100 or it might be £1000 (in which case I would 2nd the idea of a 24v cosworth engine) budget is a strange word really, could be pennies to one man, 3 grand budget to another man
caprinerd Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 paint it red as red cars go faster according to my grand daughter
TwoLitrePinto Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Pull the cologne out and upgrade to a pinto what he said
sambo Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 put a 24 valve cosworth engine in her 200bhp for less then a grand you ent going toget cheeper then that Absolutley spot on. Cheap HP and suits a capri nicely.
