b17ant Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 Hi guys Im trying my best to ensure my Mk1 Escort is safe and secure but you can never be secure enough when looking at all the cars that get stolen on OSF. I was just wondering if anybody could advise me on some security options, Trackers etc, and wheres the best place to look for them. Considering im 17 and workign part time, anything with deary prices wouldnt be good. Also, As my escort is ancient, how could i fit an alarm? (No central locking etc) Help would be highly appreciated Bob
stevepeanut Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 go into the stolen cars room, there is advice on how to make a simple cut off switch so your car wont start unless its activated
b17ant Posted April 7, 2009 Author Report Posted April 7, 2009 The cut of switch is more my thing. I seriously dont have the money to fork out on a alarm etc until my exams are over and university begins. I reckon i might invest in a steering wheel lock and stick to removing the positive wire from the battery whevener the cars in the drive!
macleod861 Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 bad thing is if someone from the scumbag faternity want ur , car doesnt matter what security is fitted they will still take it
GJUK Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Where is it parked up? The last mk2 was taken when it was parked up on the road. In a lock up, or garage where no one knows about it is best. Just insure it and don't worry about it. If some ****er wants it, they will take it. Jon
stevepeanut Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 bad thing is if someone from the scumbag faternity want ur , car doesnt matter what security is fitted they will still take it yeah but still it as difficult as possible for them, some pro theives will stop at nothing, but do as much as you can to put off most scum bags

I have a steering wheel lock,I am going to get a set of locking bonnet pins, they shouldnt be too expensive either to buy the pins.
oddball Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Please be careful with your replies. No point in having 'secret' security measures if your going to post them on an open forum.
FredTransit Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 If possible put the full lock on to the kerb and take the steering wheel off. If you see somebody wandering round with a steering wheel, you know they are up to no good!
Savvi Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 If you see somebody wandering round with a steering wheel, you know they are up to no good! Unless you have just parked your car and took the steering wheel off to stop it getting nicked !!!!
mk3tina Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 how about a wheel lock? such as what the council buggers use to wheel clamp your car. i cant imagine them being too easy to remove.

VERY GOOD POINT!. At the moment, Ive got the car in a garage, but the problem is its our comercial garage. SO alot of "W*n*ers" that come and get work done to their own cars can say "theres a nice motor" in that garage. But when its at home, its in the drive blocked by a shitty car. And when im home i usually leave the rottweiler and german shepherd to run around in the front garden. But these pros will go to all sorts of measures!
mk3tina Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 just put some fake dog crap on the seat, i cant imagine someone wanting to sit on that
