antz Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 Bloody scooters Those little lambretta and vespa things are flocking to Scarborough this weekend like flys to a cow pat for some scooter rally. They park anywhere they want (pavements & central reservations etc), they are loud, smokey and are are fooking everywhere! One scooter you can take but when there are thousands all going past at 35mh going MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE POP POP MEEEEEEEEEE POP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE MEEEEEEEEEEEE POP MEEEEEEEEEEE it drives you crazy!!!!...right before you die a horrible death from the blue shit those things kick out! Whatever makes a a grown man want to ride round on a brightly coloured variable speed hair dryer covered in mirrors I dont know Ill be glad when they bugger off home Then theres just the caravans to contend with!
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 They're not Vario-matic's Antz me old mate, they are proper manuals with a gearlever and everything. Oh and contrary to popular belief, they run on chains and gears... not a rubber band in sight I personally love them (i.e. the scooters), the fashion, the Northern Soul / Motown sounds etc. etc. I used to own a Lambretta LI 125 series 3 and a Vespa (that was a PK50 S - the least loved Vespa), and when I get some fences back up at home, I will be buying another. Can't own one yet though as it will get knicked by some theiving junkie Live and let live mate, a little bit of two stroke smoke wont kill you, and if they are running on Castrol R, it can smell absolutely beautifull too
mk2griff Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 I LOVE UM.Had one myself years ago.it was all part of the mod revival good times were had.watch quadraphinia that will show you how much fun that time was.

Sorry but I just dont get the fascination Cars and bikes I can understand but scooters Never seen quadrophenia either and dont want to mainly because its full of scooters Maybe im just too young to appreciate the old mods and rockers culture and no one in my family was a mod. Would rather listen to the deafening thump of a harley anyway than a hair dryer

antz Posted April 11, 2009 Author Report Posted April 11, 2009 what have i told you about knocking another mans passion pantz That im a big bully?
escort new boy Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 quadrophenia imo is the best film ever made an im going to see it at the theater next month. Scooters are brilliant love em, just sold my pk. I wouldn't knock something until you have tryed it.
FredTransit Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 And breathe! Personally I don't like em either, wouldn't have one and do get tempted to mow em down with the van, but I don't. they might damage the paint.....
antz Posted April 11, 2009 Author Report Posted April 11, 2009 I wouldn't knock something until you have tryed it. Fair play dude and ill admit that. But when you are on the receiving end of a 10 car tail back behind 19 scooters all travelling at 35mph, covering you in blue smoke and deafening you..you cant help but think GRRRR JUST GET OUT MY WAY It is a case of each to their own. Oh and if my thread offends anyone then I blame Pantz
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 Seriously though Antz, watch Quadrophenia. It's a great film with an excellent soundtrack which I have on Vinyl along with the original The Who - Quadrophenia album. You don't have to like scooters or scootering, it's just an excellent film; It will tell you all you need to know
stevepeanut Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 I seen a good dozen broken down scooters on the A64 today
zetecmk2 Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 oi pantz, shut it!! build yourself a lambretta chopper, go on a scooter run, drink, dance, all night normally and learn a thing or 2!! i' like you, used to hate 'em, even kicked loads of them over in brighton '83. chasing mods along the beach and getting rounded up and put on a bus and taken to the nick!! great days! then, 3 yrs later, all the skinheads had lambretta's!!! build another is on my "to do" list! feel the love, man!
zetecmk2 Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 oh, antz, you're allowed to kick over the vespa's
antz Posted April 11, 2009 Author Report Posted April 11, 2009 oh, antz, you're allowed to kick over the vespa's co-incidentally my told me today about when he was my age he was with a mate of his on their bikes and got chased into a carpark where the mods threw bottles at them....so a few nights later they were out in his matess old ford capri. They saw a group of scooters with one sticking out in the road and his mate dove into it knockign a whole line over I might watch quadrophenia one day but im not buying it. Times are hard
deltamal Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 Had a problem with scooter's meself in the 60's, but that was in a different time....
over_head_cam Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 My dad had a vespa (apparently he was something called a scooter-billy?) He crashed for some reason or another then that was it, no more two wheels
