runty176 Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 hi all . just been offered mk 1 escort 1300 4 door . £600 . to add to my collection . i don't know why i bought it , i couldn't say no coz i have been looking for 1 but wanted a 2door , but i couldn't let this one sit in a garage and get forgotten about . It is quite clean just a few small car parking dents (car is sunburst red) . All it needs is a flywheel (if somebody has one for sale) my dilema is ....... 1 - put a flywheel and m.o.t on it and sell - i don't know if the 4 door will sell as easy as a 2 2 - pump lots of money into it and turn it into a tarmac tearing monster which i had planned on a 2 door shell if one ever came up that wasn't silly money . what would you guys do ? i will post some photo's when i trailler it home on saturday
marky4 Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 if it's a good solid shell keep it 4 doors are becoming more sort after
runty176 Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 but could i learn to love a 4 dr like a 2 dr .
BIGKEV Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Just think about the time you will save getting passengers in and out lol
runty176 Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 thats true . the kids wouldn't have to climb in out . i could be nasty and leave the child locks off and see if i can tempt one of them out the door whilst driving (at very slow speeds obviously)
BIGKEV Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 do it be nasty and keep the 4 door another dilemma sorted !
runty176 Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 sorted . it's like that famous saying ....... the kids are for christmas but a car is for life . i think an advert always come's on at christmas but always has a puppy on it for some reason
Cookie Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Its a choice for you to make mate, thing is i love a 4 door but would never spunk all my money doing it up as in the back of my mind i would know its not what i really wanted in the 1st place I havebeen there many times before just trying to convince myself it is what i want. The only thing i would reccomend if your still not sure is have it and spend your money on bits and bobs that you can take back off and keep when you sell it, that way all the money you spend can still be used on a 2door if you end up with one just my 10pence worth
runty176 Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 thanx for the wise words cookie . thats the way i was thinking . glad to speak to like minded people
arch Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 ive got a four door an wen i first bought it i was gunna whack a wing onit an sell it but i love it now ive ended up doin a gearbox conversion stripping the exterior of it an started getting it reddy for paint got more plans for it aswell but just think u dont want to spend all tht money on a 2 door but then chances are it will rotted out. but i no of a 1300e 2door forsale for £1700 with a few mods not a bad car
joev8 Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Keep it , put a fire breathing 2.0 in it . nobody expects a to see a fast 4 door. A street sleeper. make it look standard looking.
Gareth Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 I dunno what it is but 4 doors dont seem to rot as much as 2's. But, I wanted a 2 door and nothin else. I got one, but it was a shed. Still, I've kept it and worked on it and never looked back I'd take cookie's advice dude. but u may not wanna get rid of it once it kills the chav-mobiles in old skool sleeper style
runty176 Posted September 15, 2006 Author Report Posted September 15, 2006 i am warming up to the idea of a bit of a sleeper . it could get some good looks as it goes down the pod really quick . it might give me the chance to be a bit different . instead of the zetec or cossie route i am fancing going for an audi tt lump . i have just witnessed a lotus elise get this such conversion and on standard internal engine components it is kicking out 330 bhp on jabba sports rollers . amazing! To get this (and above) on my cossie i have had to spend a shed load !
Gareth Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Sounds great to me dude..... Instant power hike. Just imagine being caned by a standard & period lookin 4 DOOR on steels.
runty176 Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 the mk 1 got delivered today . it aint too bad at all. i am going to try and up load the photo's (this my take a while . I can swing a spanner but computers dont like me)
runty176 Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 getting the hang of this![/img]
