Tried to pull away a bit quick - BANG! No drive. Then it went for a few seconds, now nothing. Prop is turning so it's either diff or a shaft. Had to leave it round my mates house.

Arse.

Has anybody got Cortina halfshafts to sell? I've got a diff or two but don't think I have any shafts.

I third that, same happened to me...well you know. You supplied my new diff when it happened! Good job I replaced it eh! STOP driving like a fookin hooligan :P

Not been back to the car yet, but was trying to get some shafts to cover all angles. Could really do with fixing it as I need it to get to Silverstone on Saturday (truck toooo expensive).

Picked up some RS2000 shafts. The axle casing seems to be 1/4" narrower. Anyone know if they'll fit?

Thanks for the offer Toby, but I have no idea if they'll fit. When I get one out I'll have a measure up.

All sorted, no big drama. It had spat all the teeth off 1 of the planet gears and another one had burst. Chucked in a 3.5:1. The nasty whine I had has gone, as has most of the vibration I had. Result!

Just ordered a Quaife LSD. Think I'll fit it to a 3.9 though.

The car feels a bit less lively now, but is better on my motorway trip to work. Decision decisions!!

Thanks for all the offers of help.

And for anyone who cares, RS2000 half shafts are longer between the bearing and flange so wouldn't just go straight on
