V8ian Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 when i was under 10 spent most of my school holidays in a Ford Transcontinental, at the same time at school, i was bugging my teacher about his 'original' south london look 105E, this was in Colchester, slammed to the ground, 4 pipes out of a sectioned sill from the screaming x-flow. deep burgandy with a silver roof, wide cream steels with hubcaps .... and it was linked!!!!! this thing used to make mincemeat of all the jacked up V8 Zod's and Zeph's 4 years later was designing cars and working out suspension geometries .. 1 year on, first escort, modded to what i'd read and studied and driven by friends dads and older brothers, 17 and college and i was driving what i'd built ... and still designing and refining to this day. Funny, My teacher at Woolwich tech had a Burgandy & Grey/silver Anglia om wide steels???? strange, Ive had Old Fords all my life, started when was given a V8 Pilot when I was about 14, Followed by Mk3 ZZ Abbot Estate, 2 door Corsair, over 22 Anglias, Cortinas, all except a Mk3, and many others that I have probably forgotten, NEVER HAD AN ESCORT!!!!!!!
radjay mk1 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 i had a mk1 rs2000 about 16yrs ago sold that bought a mk2 rs2000 then sold that and bought a mk2 mex. started a family and now back into escorts and loving it!
Mick The Cabbie Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Born in 69 and grew up in the 70's. Happy days! Always loved old Fords. Although my dad never had one, the neighbours did. Daytona yellow Mk1 Escort next door, dark blue Anglia 2 doors down and a silver Mk3 20.GL Capper later on next door. My 1st car was a Mk1 Escort back in 1986. I've lost count of how many I've owned over the years. Had a brief 3ish year break from em in early 2000's. Can't imagine I'll ever be without one again though
deltamal Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Old bugger! my first Ford was a 1950 Fordson 5 cwt van, cost me £10, learnt to drive on that! had mostly Fords since then....
zetecmk2 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 used to race mountain bikes so never learnt to drive till late 20's, did the r5 turbo bit (gordini, not gtt), then built a few mini's, still love 'em! it was during a mini build that i needed a cheap runaround while the mini was off the road, saw a mk 2 escort for £300, remembered how i was impressed with my mate's mk2 rally car in the late 80's (i wasn't into cars....but loved this thing) so offered the owner a crx i could get as a swap! he said yes i paid £100 for the honda and swapped for a mk2 escort in blue with square lights and chrome everywhere! killed the engine , then again, fitted forrest arches, pinto, dead again! x-pack, zetec, another zetec!.....been good for a year now! it was in this time that osf started and prices rocketed, so no, not new but yes, new!!
