Smudger105e Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Hope this isn't a repost... I was watching Watchdog last week (I think it was) and they had an article where people had sent their driving license to DVLA, and when they came back the details were wrong, for example one guy who was an advanced motorcycle instructor had motorcycles removed. When he queried it with them, they basically said 'prove it'. So he has had to re take his 'bike test. There were a few others with similar problems. So if you send you license off to DVLA for any reason, make a copy of it first, so you can prove your entitlement to drive... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2009/05/dvla_update.html

Stu_B Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Another thing to look out for is the renewal date on the photo cards... 4b on the front shows the date of expiry Mines up this august
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 7, 2009 Admin Report Posted May 7, 2009 Didn't realise there was a renewal date for photo cards *rummages around in bag to find licence date* .... it's okay, mine is 29.10.12. phew
sab6024 Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Photocards are only valid for 10 years I always photocopy the logbook of a car before I send it off too My brother sold a car one day and that night it was burnt out on a beach and he was liable for clean up costs until he pointed out he'd already sold it. Luckily he still had the logbook as he hadn't sent it off. Once the letter comes from DVLA saying the details have changed, I shred the photocopy
over_head_cam Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Once again a Government company is a pile of shit. I'm not entirely surprised at the story in the link
