Retro-gone. Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 me and debs (wifey) are really feeling the pinch at mo, to say were struggling is an understatement, we are £125 per week worse off than we were 3 weeks ago due to personal reasons,so we decided to get our heads together and try find a solution, ive started respraying motorcycles again after a 2 year break, then we decided somethings gotta go.. my capri? my Motorcycle? nope... deb turned and said ' im not letting you even think about selling your toys cos you wouldnt be the same man without them (phew) so instead she is giving up her motorbility car, the brand new fiesta she got last year, it costs her £190 per month , so thats almost £50 per week weve salvaged.. when weve got out this situation we'l start lookin for an older car for her, but untill then the weekly shopping will be done in the capri. shes a good un aint she
BIGKEV Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Deffo - good girl - what a grump you would be without the banana car
Copey Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 custard torpedo if you dont mind hows about Yellow Pearl...(couldnt resist a link to Phil Lynott...) but thats damn good of her Tony, got a good missis there!!

Retro-gone. Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 Everyone on here already knows shes a good'un, shes put up with you so long youre cruisin for a smacked leg young man
stevepeanut Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 not many women would do that Tony, you got a good doris there. Most women would be like "you got too many toys, sell either the car or the bike" Feeling the pinch here too, Its too much running my bike, my truck and my escort. I'd never sell my bike, so if it comes to it, the escort or the truck will go, no idea which, I dont want to think about it just yet. Plus we got Sarahs astra and her bike.
bigdaz27 Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 im feeling the pinch to infact im sure most of us are but the last cuple of months have bin a lot beter ive bin working on avarge 80 hours a week and things are looking up its good you ent got to sell the capri
Retro-gone. Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 dont get m wrong, in the past, specially when our 3 kids were young, id sell whatever car/bike i had if push came to shove, mainly around xmas time to fund the presents for the kids, so ive certainly done the decent thing many times, but as deb said to me, this is our time of life now, we need to enjoy ourselves and the way we do that is clearing off in the capri or on the bike for days out or weekends away. once were back on the ladder we'l save up for her a little classic car
FredTransit Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 Is your Mrs legible for disabled tax? Get her to put the yellow peril in her name, and get free tax . Perfectly legal!
mk3cokebottle Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 Is your Mrs legible for disabled tax? Get her to put the yellow peril in her name, and get free tax . Perfectly legal! Presuming the cappa is a 72/L isnt already tax free???
FredTransit Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 I don't think it is tax free, but I am sure Tony will make this clear!
Admin Vista Posted May 8, 2009 Admin Report Posted May 8, 2009 Is your Mrs legible for disabled tax? Get her to put the yellow peril in her name, and get free tax . Perfectly legal! Presuming the cappa is a 72/L isnt already tax free??? L is the crossover plate, it can be 72 or 73 as back then it ran from August to August.
FredTransit Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 I seem to remember when Tony found that Mk1 which was tax exempt, people said swap the ID over. Could be wrong.
Retro-gone. Posted May 8, 2009 Author Report Posted May 8, 2009 Fred, youre right, its not tax exempt (missed it by 2 months ) ive thought about putting it her name for free tax but its only got 2 owners on log book and id like to keep it that way, besides i only tax it 6 months per year nowadays, . thanks for the thought tho
FredTransit Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 Hang on though, do you have to change the name? most motorbility cars are leased aren't they? it's just the taxation class that's relevant. Would it be hard to change the taxation class, given your wife has the certificate to tax it? At the end of the day, if your wife is giving up her car it's a wasted free tax disc. That's the way I see it anyway.
Retro-gone. Posted May 8, 2009 Author Report Posted May 8, 2009 hmm, il look into that, if my name can stay on the log book then hell yeah im up for free tax! but when we get sorted financially were gonne get her another car, just a cheapie runabout, poss a mk3 escort.. or similar.
