Retro-gone. Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 its started fookin chippings everywhere round here
trakevlyn Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 I had the same problem last Wednesday took the yellow peril (escort) to work and road was normal but on way home they were resurfacing so i slowed down to 15mph to save any stone chips when a bloody knob goes the opposite way at about 50mph and showers the side of my car in gravel
johnny_h Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 and you would be fookin moaning if there was potholes everywhere.... never happy you lot
trakevlyn Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 and you would be fookin moaning if there was potholes everywhere.... never happy you lot I wouldn't mind if they filled the potholes in first but all they do is splash some tar down and cover it in chippings i wouldn't mind if they stripped it off and relayed it properley leaving a nice even surface
surfingturnip Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 it's the start of summer, Scarborough borough councils ideal 'we're going to dig the roads up at the most inoppertune moment' timephase. expect more to come. Saw you in Hunmanby today by the way Tony
omj624p Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 It's started round here too, but the funny part is they have changed the 'Road Works' sign posts to say.... ...Surface Dressing!!! FFS! We all know it's just road works, why try to make it sound nicer than it is.
V6MAT Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 lucky ye! come over my way and youll love our main road with a bump every 10 foot and its been like that since it was new
bigdaz27 Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 by me the roads are like the surfce of the fooking moon some of the pot holes are 4inches deep
Toby Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Yep everywhere round here too, as you say just wall papering over the cracks!! They are sooooo clever round here that they are putting a new round-about in so they have shut one of our buisiest roads. Then using all the cunning of a fox set up a diversion - yep you guessed it - straight into the resurfacing - GENIUS!!
vibrating_Cake Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 am i the only one here who's not bothered about this? my car is a car for driving, i drive through anything.... be it shite a horse has dropped, gravel a farmer has dropped, or crappy tarmac a retard has dropped... ill go through it! seems silly to me sometimes, the car was designed to get a bit of a beating, aslong as theres plenty of layers of waxoyl under the arches and you dont drive too close to the car in front, whats the problem? a car is for driving, not just for xmas Right, im off to drive to uni.... and park in the gravel carpark! after driving down the cobbled road to the carpark! buh bye!
Savvi Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 As Bigdaz said the roads around here are terrible now apart from the new road layout near the A34 junction which has been going on forever. Having said that they have to resurface at this time of the year because the salt has washed off the roads and (hopefully) the weather is warmer to help the tarmac lay better, so i was told when i was an apprentice plant fitter

andy a Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 They resurfaced a road near here last week, they used the biggest chippings in the world ever, massive, more like crazy paving than bits of granite, well, ok, maybe not quite that big but you get the idea... When they finished it they drove this great big hoover type thing over it and no loose chippings anywhere, brilliant, pity the surface is still crap and the roads breaking up and sliding into the dyke but I guess thats just a minor detail...

Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 chippings are annoying thats one reason i just piss can my cortina and ragg it round every where
jimbo Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 its started fookin chippings everywhere round here Come move to Hertfordshire Tony. Not a danger of resurfacing here....I spend more time weaving in and out of potholes than I do driving in a straight line.
Toby Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 am i the only one here who's not bothered about this?my car is a car for driving, I'm fine with them fixing the roads I just wish they orchastrated a bit better, and smoothed them out more like a race track
Toby Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8025935.stm That could do with some chippings over!

BIGKEV Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 The roads are atrocious round here - mind you the skyways are always jammed too
Toby Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 I had to laugh earlier.... The road they've resurfaced yesterday... Today a man with a spray can and a high viz jacket was marking where the road needs repairing under the re-surfacing. I tell you - it's GENIUS!
