245bhp? i think not. If i was selling a 245 bhp pinto I would be proud enough to have photos of the engine and the dynograph. I would bet good money it doesn't make that (and i' not a betting guy!)

 

being in classic ford doesn't mean anything, no disrepect to the CF crew but they would be happy to print those figures on face value (as would any other mag) because it grabs peoples attention.

Also my brother's got a 2.4 pinto and it should 'theoretically' produce 240bhp when he gets off his arse does some work and earns some money to buy a set of twin carbs.

It depends who built it & what the exact spec is.

 

2.2 could be an HT Racing lump or Harris lump? (Although both would cost in excess of £4000 I'd imagine)

 

For that sort of power it'd probably have to have an all steel bottom end in it.

 

Can't be arsed to go & look but there was a peppermint green Mk2 in the first issue of Classic Ford that claimed to have a 250+BHP home built Pinto lump!

Mate is planning one on V6 pistons and a cossie crank and rods with an old heavily ported head(1300) and twin 48s. He thinks it will make 220+ but i reckon 175-185. What ya reckon.
