cheapest breakdown cover

for modern car,

all i want is to know the wife gets brought home safely if the astra breaks down on her while shes out of town, any recommendations? ive looked at AA site but i cant figure out what package covers her for the above, i dont want one that just dumps her and the car at nearest garage, i want one that brings her and the car back home if it cant be fixed at the roadside.

Cheapest way could be via your insurance?

 

 

Rac and AA have always had a rule in the small print that if it can be repaired at a reasonable cost and time, it has to go to a local garage 1st rather then be recovered home.

 

National breakdown used to be quite good again can be cheaper via a 3rd party such as a club or insurance.

tony, do you have a tesco clubcard? if you do when you get the money off vouchers through the post you can use them, tesco have also started a new scheme where the vouchers are worth double if you get them changed into "tesco partner coupouns" at the customer service desk at your local store, so £15 worth of vouchers will get you breakdown and recovery

ohh thats good, my bird wants breakdown cover and she has loadsa tesco point.... can you point me towards more info?

 

ps. RAC was the cheapest i could find last month when i invested

she should have had a booklet through this week, if not it will come next week, all the info is in the little booklet

AA/RAC etc. will want to fix the car for you at huge costs (the sort of thing you could fix at home for peanuts) at the road side, if they can't do it, they'll take you to a garage who will also charge you a premium. Recovery is a last resort.

 

I want the same as you, just recovery, but it seems no one does this as they won't make any money.

 

I find mobile phone and a tow rope the cheapest option.

I'm with RAC got relay or whatever they call it where they'll take you home. Just tell them it overheated and loads of smoke came out if you want it on a lorry home!

I was never given the option with me starter motor, the patrolman said it was too big a job (on Mk2 transit DI? WTF?) so end of.

i was with brittania rescue thru my insurance co (liverpool victoria now LV)

 

and i think i paid £80 not massively cheap but it was onward journey and recovery

 

so they would come out take me to where i was going then take me home again or to garage of my choice or if it was a saturday night home again then to a garage ont he monday morning

 

crackign value for money as it was also unlimited callouts
