trakevlyn Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Thought you would all like a good laugh !!!! There we were, me and the 2 girls, sitting watching Twilight, dinner cooking away, when I get a call on my mobile from my husband "where are you, are you on your way ?". "what are you on about" I ask. He replies, Ive run out of petrol and had to leave the car parked on the side of the road to get some petrol, can you pick me up at the garage and take me back to the car. So I bundle girls in the car and race to find him, thinking what a F****** TW**. We find him, get the petrol and then rush to rescue his pride and joy, when we pull over where he said he left the car, there is no car. He panics saying "It was just there, where's my car ?". He gets out of the car and walks down the road. We wait and watch him walk off into the distance and around the bend with petrol cans in hand, he has gone and so has the car. Me and the girls sat waiting in the car for a good 10 mins, the eldest getting upset that dads car has gone, she is getting worried, so I decide to drive down the road to find him, and there they both are safe and sound. I drive a bit further and turn round and he has driven off, but its OK he has stopped a bit further on as he saw we had gone. Anyway I follow him home, so he can get some more petrol (just incase, as two cans arent enough !) He tells me to go home, but I wind the window down and say "No, no, Ill follow you again, just in case you break down, haha". Strange, he didnt find the funny side of my humour. But I did as I said and followed him home, and watched him tuck it up in the garage. But the girls jump out of my car and give the car a big hug, as they are glad dad still has the car. His excuse for running out of petrol was, he thought it had a quarter of tank of petrol, but when he tapped the petrol gauge it dropped to empty. I've heard some stories in my time, but that takes the biscuit, or should I say the PETROL. Mitsubish 1 Escort NIL Mrs Trakevlyn

sambo Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 A friend of mine goes through cars like underwear and every one he has owned, he has ran out of fuel! Very embarrasing in a 934 Porsche! Pushing it to the side of the road!
SmokeEm Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 saw it there on thr roadside and looked everywhere for you including in the garden centre but couldn't find you. When i went back you'd gone.
Streetfighter Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 I ran out of petrol the other week in the Cortina, but the fuel gauge hasn't worked since my Uncle owned it, so I do have an excuse. Luckily and unlike modern car owners, I always have fuel, water, coolant, engine oil, auto transmission oil and a few gaskets in the boot of the MK1
