Mannheimsfinest Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Hi, I`ve got a few questions about my 1300 mk2. I had a melted valve so I had to change the headgasket. My questions are, can I reuse the old headbolts and how much torque do they get? I would be happy if I get some support, because in Germany there isn`t some.
X-pack-Glyn Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Wow, youre still running a crossflow in germany, proppa old skool, respect!!! most of the krouts fit M3 motors into thier mk3 cappa,s in thier sleep then call it a runnaround!! i used to re use head bolts on em, and torque em to 70 lbs with the bolts oiled... then recheck torque after 20 mins warm up.

At least spell it right ......Krauts Sorry couldn't resist. If your budget isn't a problem then I would always replace the head bolts. My Ford manual quotes the head bolt torque as being 65 to 70 Lb.ft. or 8.98 to 9.67Kg.m.

Some of them are sponsors of this site and will answer any requests for parts if you put a post in their room.
Mannheimsfinest Posted December 20, 2006 Author Report Posted December 20, 2006 But there is a big problems with the parts from the UK, because there are the costs for shipping (20 pounds at Burton) and the tax. And wehen the parts arrive they cost 3 times more than it would cost in the UK.

Ford fair or similar Have a holiday, fill your boot with cheap (ish) parts then drive home again knowing the tax man hasn't benefited from your labour. Besides all the goods you're buying are duty paid are they elligible for more tax because you're exporting them?

But theres in another thing I had to ask, I had a kind of a water-problem on the inside of the car. The floor on the driver-side(LH) was wet. I put all the panels away to find a hole or something, but noting everthing was OK. The car has 55000km and no rust and I really don`t know where the came from? Could it be the sealing from the door?
Admin Vista Posted December 20, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 20, 2006 Yes it could be through the door seal, or the windscreen seal, or running along a cable from under the bonnet into behind the dash and dripping down. It could be from anywhere and often small leaks are hard to find. Any car is good enough to be on a stand, we're not about polishing and dusting we're about driving. Bring it to Ford fair at Silverstone and you can even take it roundd the circuit for a small fee.

And it`s a Automatic so not really quick and I got another money pit in my garage with some more hard to find and very expensive parts.

Any car is welcome on the showstands, it doesnt matter what it looks like at all . I used to be really self conscious of showing my car because I didnt think it was good enough, But now I really dont know what I worried about WELCOME TO OSF

I had this problem with mine it was coming in from around the front windscreen seal and running down to the floor. I put a new rubber on round the window but didn't help much. so with the new one i just filled the outside with lots and lots of black sealant fixed the problem so far. Worth a try if your rubbers in good condition. Hope this helps Ian

I pull the carpet out and there is nothing wet at the front (around the pedals), only on the floor. I think I will try it with a new door seal. Ps. I had some luck with my melted valve. I found a new one right at the local Ford-dealer
