BIG G Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 A few of us were stood around towards the end of the show today and saw mick rogers i think thats his name run a 11.6 @ 120 ish then as he went over the line we heard a big bang and a massive scrunch of metal and ran over to the wall to see his car on its roof about 400yrds down the track. He got out allright and we couldnt see the car but at least he seemed ok. This is a bit humbling really as i dont think about crashing in a straight line.
Mr Sam Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 yes not nice and we complain when theres down time because the ambulance has had to go else where but this puts into prespective why it is there and why we have to wait around when its not, even in a straight line it only takes something like a blow out and things go wrong fast as Gordy said though he was out the car okay so hopefully only minor injuries
Fiesta Steve Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Glad he got out ok, hope the cars back out soon
Seals2 Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 hope his ok!!! After running a gd time that happens!! Anyone get a pic? At least he walked away sometimes life before metal although we all love the cars so much.
Mick The Cabbie Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 Couldn't believe it. I wont forget the noise it made in a hurry. It must ave rolled about 6 times Hope he's ok
antz Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 glad he is ok a car can be fixed but you cant fix a person so easily

turnover Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 allways good to have a cage in these circumstances

azz-bo Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Glad to hear his ok but GUTTED about the car, if it wern't for him or that beast of a motor I would never have gotten into OSF's . Wish him all the best
Fiesta Steve Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 glad he is ok a car can be fixed but you cant fix a person so easily People get fixed for free , cost money to fix cars though
caprinerd Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 was my car still in the stand area when it happened i love this car really do will have tolook on the power not paint site and see if there`s an up date on there
steve dray Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Sorry to hear this , So glad he is ok, he is an inspiration to the 'sleeper world' and STILL my favourite OSF. If any one knows him personally, pass on our best wishes from all of us, and tell him to get the welder fired up!!
Johnson Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 we heard it and saw the aftermath glad he didnt get hurt, knowing mick rodgers, he will panel beat this straight and start racing it again adds to the character
Toby Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 What a shame - poor bloke. That rat look thing is / was so cool! Imagine the traffic light races with that. Glad he's ok and hope it's not totalled. It doesn't usually do engines much good either running upside down with no oil I wish him the best
SLEEPY Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 This is a bit humbling really as i dont think about crashing in a straight line. A lot of people say to me that drag racing is easy as it's just in a straight line over a short distance, But it happens, as you are putting down a lot of power (especially in Micks case) and if I pull off in a straight line i'm happy, there has been times when i've seen the barrier then the other car then the barrier again and you're thinking should I ease off the pedal or will it straighten itself. then you change gear just as you're going over a bit of spilt oil or water and it happens again. or something seizes or breaks and god knows what can happen. imagine if your prop snaps or twists out of the gearbox and your car is catapulted into the air. Glad he's OK and remember guys it can happen to any of us, and the more power you've got the bigger the crash.
