Admin Vista Posted July 15, 2009 Admin Report Posted July 15, 2009 Yes but a top spec axle is expensive and is only really necessary for something with a lot of power and grip.

SAF_Capri Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 wheel and tyre combinations to keep roughly same rolling radius as now? all help greatly received
Messenjah Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 where are you getting a 4.1 diff for a capri ??? 2.8is had a 3.09 2.0s had a 3.44 and 1.6's a 3.77 burton list a 4.63 diff ... i just wondered where you were gonna get a 4.1 from ? you will DEffinately notice the difference with a lightened flywheel ittl make the car more peaky though i had a light flywheel in my capri for a while (till i fooked the engine lol) and found the revs to be alot more responsive and it would rev up alot quicker deffo made a difference but also you have to have more revs to get you off the line because you loose torque by getting rid of the weight of the flywheel ... and as for wheel and tyre combos to keep true to the original 205/50/15 is 3mm smaller overall diameter ... 195/50/15 is 13mm smaller 225/45 is 5mm smaller ... http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresiz2.html that link is a tyre size calculator and is very usefull
SAF_Capri Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 cheers mate, 4.1 was an estimate, im looking into whats available for the axle, with an atb. ..You dont loose the torque of the car..you purely release the energy differently.

livewire7116 Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Think you have missed a detail here, a 4.1 atlas cwp is extremely rare and therefor expensive, next one is a 4.6 which will be insane for road use, stick to the 3.75 its a good all rounder for what you do with the car, as for the diff when you want it changed speak to paul he has done a few
ajones125 Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 godyear eagle f1 come rain or shine are ment to be excellent, for your tyre choice
SAF_Capri Posted July 18, 2009 Author Report Posted July 18, 2009 cheers mate, will have a chat with paul once i get the diff. i wasnt talking about the lsd, i was talking about the flywheel--you do not loose torque from your engine-surely it has the same torque? -just releases differently.
oldskoolfred Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 what gearbox did the car have in it to start with ??
vibrating_Cake Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 get some 195/45r15's very common tyre size and quite a bit smaller than your standard wheel diameter... then go from there, your speedo is well out anyway this might bring it back down! i noticed the difference going to 195/45r15's to acceleration and gearing, and its a common size for pretty good tyres! think you should start there, it'd bring your speedo a little more accurate than it is now haha you know you want my 3.44
