mk2escortmad Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 just a heads up guys that top gear is having a capri on it tonight.. i think they have to find 3 rear wheel drive hatchbacks for their challenges.. lets hope we are not let down again for it not being shown
FredTransit Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 Let's hope they don't drop a piano on it either.....
Savvi Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 Went to the filming of this on Wednesday. Same old same old, Capri let us down big time, although star in the car was nice and a doris for a change .............. Fred don't watch it !!! I took a mate of mine who really wanted to go and he came out slightly disappointed Only another 2 shows left then the series is finished again, next weeks should be better than this weeks.

Savvi Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 Not from us mate .......................... it was a really bad example and just let the side down i took the immobilliser off it before they used it (last job i did for the guy who does their cars, as he owes me a £3600 and won't pay) and i've seen better in the scrapyards.
5.0S-teve Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 Anybody know whats happened to the Capri at all?? Just been nosey thats all, steve
Savvi Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 It was sat outside the workshop where i used to do the work for Top Gear, looking very sad for itself and a knacker ed engine. Knowing the guy it will be stripped for parts some of which will be used on his race cars. As i said it was a bad example and looked like it was bodged to sell on in my opinion when they bought it.
Savvi Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 NO .................. I'm the Stigs fat Cousin !!!!! Everyone keeps telling me i looked fat on Tv ................. i tell them i always look that way !!!!
Trevmk3 Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 to be honest there didnt look to be much damage after running into the piano, not like when they dropped it on the other one
Admin Vista Posted July 20, 2009 Admin Report Posted July 20, 2009 I thought dropping that piano on the marina was uncalled for. Ok, I don't like them and it's obvious that they don't like them but that looked to be a car that was in reasonably good nick and there IS an owners club out there so there obviously ARE people that do like them. I don't find trashing classic cars for laughs funny and it doesn't matter to me whether it's the mintest of Fords or simply a humble morris. I think the three of them are beginning to look like infantile pricks.
Savvi Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I have to agree with you. The Marina was in very good condition for the age and interior was near mint it was also the bigger engine version and had been well looked after in it's previous life by the look of it. My 1st car was a Marina and yes they were not as good as an Escort in my opinion but still a british made vehicle and i saw no point in the piano being dropped on it. I have seen it since and to be fair not much damage occurred and would certainly be repairable but no doubt it will be blown up or similar in a future episode. You do have to think whether these guys are actually car fans ?
stevepeanut Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 totally agree with the fact that wrecking old cars is shit, but oddly enough I like marinas. My dads first car was a hillam hunter which broke down every time it went out. Then we got a marina, went allover the uk, holidays to blackpool. So I got nice memories of it. But regardless of that, blowing up/damaging any classic car is really bad. Its less and less of them on the road. I really used to love top gear, true car fans? I used to think so, but now maybe not. Overpaid tossers? I'm beginning to think so. If they worked crap day jobs they didnt like, like most of us on here, to pay for our hobby of old fords, maybe they'd see what its like to be in the real world and wouldnt trash them. I'm also glad the capri didnt do very well in the challenge. If it did well or won, more people would jump on the bandwagon and prices would shoot up.

EscortHeadCase Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 ive got no problems with them blowing up old caravans. But wrecking a car that somone has obviously cared for and spent cash on etc is just too far. If i was a millionaire id buy a veyron. And then let the Marina owners club make a video of them dropping a grand piano on it. Then send it to Top Gear and watch them not get annoyed because somone thinks a car they love is crap enough to wreck ....

EscortHeadCase Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 ok scrub that new idea. Id buy them 2 Veyrons and hire them the tallest crane i could find. so they could drop one of the veryrons onto the other....
