lee337 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 just wondering if anyone on here has put a v6 into a mk1 or 2 escort?? does the bulkhead have to be modified?? what do they handle like with the heavy v6 in?? what suspension and running gear are you using?? the cam has gone in my 1700 xflow and i can't decide wether to have the engine rebuilt to a higher spec or if i should put the 24v v6 in thats sat in my garage
evildave Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 i used to have a mk1 with a 3.1 essex v6, had some overheating problems but drove well. mine had quite a bit of bulkhead removed and set back and the tunnel was huge to take an old style 3litre manual box.

Or just a complete engine? The V6 is really better suited to capris/granadas, they are a heavy, wide lump. I don't doubt it'll fly, but for everyday, I' d be thinking Zetec. Flog the 24v to a capri owner and find a rear ended earlyish 2lt m0ndeo. You can even find the conversion parts secondhand on ebay to keep costs down. Easy to do, keep the weight down, you'll be a able to get your arms down the side to work on it and parts are more than plentiful. It a winner in my eyes, and its what escRot will be getting next - hopefully
