Capri18 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 good job i checked the fourm just now, i had complely forgot about this meet....luckily i dont have any jobs on so il see you guys there
Jonb Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Been to worse A lot of it was a bit too much like Tesco's car park for me, and a real shame so many were turned away, but all in all not too bad at all Gold Mk2 escort 1.3 Ghia was sweet as, and the white Mk2 escort estate was b-yoot-iful. The problem with today is that its re-kindled my Capri desire
retrorigg Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 they were my two favourite cars too, how many were turned away, that pretty bad especially if they travelled a long way, id be ravin if travelled and got turned away
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 they only made them park across the road at the other services they didnt say fook off youre not coming in
John Hargreaves Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 At one point I'd say there were at least 50 fords at the services ranging from old stuff, which was most of us from the Leeds convoy, to a herd of focuses (foci?) and a group of lads from Newcastle in caterhams. Decent meet though, plenty to see ranging from 1950s (a nice consul capri) to present. Worth the run up the A1.
antz Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 what time do cars start arriving here , hopefully coming up in mates mk2 tina gt estate , how many cars expected to be goin to this Please don't plan to be there before 1pm as we have the cones to put down to help the marshal's park the cars. was a good meet but no one listened to the above. me and my dad got there at 1pm and there wasnt anywhere to park and we were told to park at the other services across the busy roundabout which isnt good for my dad with a heart problem. i wouldnt of been happy brining my escort along to be told to dump it acorss the other side and leave it.....not a chance. i think the meet has become too modern orientated which is a shame. far too many fosuc st's and zetec fiesta...i can go to morrisons and see that., other than that it was a good day out and the turnout of old cars never fails to disappoint.
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 its not just oldskoolford meet though cars from other forums are told about this meet and as for people not arriving before 1 oclock that wasnt gonna happen some people travle a long way to this met and set off in good time incase of delays and stops etc
Dan492 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 Some photos from the meeting are in the following thread: http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... highlight= Had a great day out, father and I travelled across from Maryport (set off at 10 and got there at 12) was filling up fast! Top meeting and big thanks to all the marshalls and indeed the hotel staff for letting us run it!
Synergy Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 i think the meet has become too modern orientated which is a shame. far too many fosuc st's and zetec fiesta...i can go to morrisons and see that. Agree , imo it needs splitting up into one OSF meet and a another for plastics.

I think so too, but maybe 2 meets at the same time, one for old cars on one side of the motorway and one for the new cars at the other side. I normally calms down after this meet, the first one is always huge, and gets a big turn out when people find out the magazines are going to be there. Just hope the hotels new owners were ok with it, or it might have been the last one. But on the whole, everyones behaviour was good, only seen a few modern fiestas driving a bit too quick on the way out.
Retro-gone. Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 i lasted 25 minutes, cant see me going again either when theres more modern cars than classics, sorry but it did nothing at all for me, altho i did enjoy a mad blast up and down the motorway.
stevepeanut Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 I go to almost every scotch meet and to be honest I have a 5 minute look around the cars, and the main reason I go is to catch up with all my mates from the scene. Today I saw a couple of lads from the northeast who I used to hang around with, people from leeds capri and whiterose capri and capripower, few lads of osf, Tony,Dave,Antz,DaddyAntz from northyorks, plus all the westyorks crew that I came up with the convoy. Maybe its a bit odd the way I look at it, but its the people that make the meet for me, not the cars. I remember my first scotch corner 2 or 3 years back and I knew one or two people, its ace now, cant walk more than a few yards without bumping into someone I know

Copey Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 was a good meet, but at said, too much plastic had a great day out and a bunch of us capri lads had a run out in the morning before the meet which was great fun!! 20 capris all driving in convoy, was good nice to catch up with people too, and meet some new faces! (Dave and Steve)
Retro-gone. Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 id prob have stayed longer if it hadnt been so chilly, plays merry hell wiv me old bones ya know.. i do however respect all the hard work that andy put into the meet

retrorigg Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 this was my 1st meet , loved it, slightly to many plastics tho for my liking, why anyone would want to look at a 59 reg st fiesta is behond me when ya can see them every day on most roads , otherwise great hope to have my scort there next time
