First off, if I'm posting in the wrong place, forgive me

I would just like a bit of advice off the people who know best :)

I have a Mk5, 2.0 pinto Cortina currently in primer, hoping to be finished for around the end of this month.. Have a set of '6j x 13 RS 4 Spoke' alloys to go on it, which have been sandblasted and are waiting for paint.

Anyway, my question is, what tyre size/make am I best off with? I sold an old Mini today so decided I'm going to buy the tyres now ready before the money disappears!

Hoping to spend probably around £200 ish for a set of 4? Don't mind a bit more for the right tyres :) Car will mainly be used for the road, so I don't want a set that will be bald after 1000 miles, but at the same time I want it to do as I want it to :) You get the idea

Soo, any ideas on good sizes/makes/rough prices?

Cheers, any help much appreciated.

Steve.

typically yokahama/dunlop/bridgestone would be the best to look for from the research ive done so far. I think i will be going for toyo semi slicks just because its a road car and theyre cheaper

I put Continental Eco 3 185/70x13's on my Capri - cost about £140 for a full set. Excellent performance in both wet and dry and didn't wear out in under 10,000 miles. The Yokos are OK but you'll eat through them - longevity isn't something they're noted for.

Beg to differ my A539's last very well, thats with smoking the arse out of them as well.

I run Yoko 539's on my 13" wheels, they work well, done about 15,000 on them no a lot of wear and grippy, running Michelin pilot exell's on the 14" wheels, stick like shit to a blanket wet or dry, not sure about the wear side of it yet though...
