What with the massive number of MK1 and MK2 Essies being advertised on various forums, then having several price reductions and ultimately ending up with the seller begging for offers, is the overpriced Escort market finally starting to collapse?

I guess the Irish lads, who were keeping the inflated prices going, have got all the essies they need now.

Are people waking up to the fact that £2700 for an unroadworthy MK2 RS* that has holes in every panel and fist sized holes in the inner wings and firewall is just a joke?

*yes, I personally know of one MK2 RS that was that rotten and did sell for that price.

Was talking to Alwyn (Alimax) the other week about this, and he said the same thing, Good or bad............time will tell i guess :?

Whatever the market is, we will just carry on as normal. I will mean though that many of the enthusiasts who have been priced out of buying an OSF will have more oppertunity.

That said, as this is a hobby/leisure market mostly, it has been affected by the current economic situation and as such will probably improve as people become more relaxed about their finances.

I've not noticed this.

Lots of people asking 'silly' prices for four doors, and much like house prices things will go up and down with demand/as people have finance changes.

The trend though is they're going up in value as they're a finite number of them left.

Cheaper prices possibly reflect the sellers fiancial situation, ie has to get rid quickly...

Mines was pretty much all there and pretty much standard RS when we bought it bout 3-4years ago now, and we payed £6500 for it then  Which at the time i thought was pretty expensive.

And i also agree, wateva the markets doin im still gunna keep wit OSF's. This just means there an upside for buyers and down side for sellers, but im pretty sure the prices will go up again soon

I wish the prices were coming down, 'cos it'll mean that when I finally buy one it'll be cheaper than they are now. But then at this time of year people are selling a bit cheaper, plus there is a global recession on and people may have more important priorities to worry about, ie mortgages, being made unemployed etc, so the first things to go are generally holidays and cars

I've seen a couple of mint looking RS2000's on pistonheads, but they are in the £12-14,000 region, so I'd say they are not coming down
