....well not for a while. For those of you that know my car

DSC02432.jpg

you will know how much I've been tinkering with the exhaust and induction side in order to get the most out of the stonking little Vulcan 1.7 Xflow.

For those of you who don't know, I made an exhaust manifold and 2 1/8" system amongst other things specifically for my spec of engine (see 'how to' guides).

The moment of truth was this evening when I went down to Aaron at HT Racing at Brands Hatch for my 6th Rolling road session. Steve from Vulcan was also in attendance:

Previous result on Ashley performance manifold was 137bhp and 124lbft torque. With my manifold and exhaust I got 146bhp and (imo) an even more impressive 131lbft torque! 8) (and still on a dizzy).

Below is the dyno graph. The red line shows how the car performed with my 'Wardspeed' big bore manifold and the bottle neck Ashley system. The blue line shows my Wardspeed manifold and system. With both of them fitted I got an extra +9Bhp and an extra +7lbft torque with gains everywhere above 3400rpm.

I could go up a choke size to 36mm or 38mm to get closer to 150bhp but I'm well chuffed and I dare not touch it now.

The power of DIY

Big thanks to Steve (Vulcan) and Aaron (HT), cheers

Cheers all, I put about 20 hours into the manifold alone so I don't think it would be economically viable for me to make and sell them unfortunately. :(

I knew as soon as I'd fitted the complete system and drove it that it was an instant improvement but its good to have the figures to back up the 'seat of the pants' feeling.
