Alan G Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Have beem looking at a few of these... What are ye're experience with them? Whats the one to get?? (2.1 Pinto)
MK1 Dave Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Cheapest rev limiter is your right foot. Dave
escort21 Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Those kind of rev limiters have the 'human error' factor though
MK1 Dave Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 True - Order a packet of mechanical sympathy. Dave
Alan G Posted December 30, 2006 Author Report Posted December 30, 2006 Those kind of rev limiters have the 'human error' factor though Human error being wanting to push that extra little bit... I've been looking at Omex Clubman Rev Limiters for single coil, not bad prices on fleabay!
Mr Sam Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 valve bounce is my limiter palve when the piston hits the valve........only ever managed that once doin err a little over the limit on a back road think oh fooooooook humb back bridge you get air off this at 50ish shift to 3rd at beyong 60.....................not a nice sound
Mark2Mark Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 My boss uses an audi (i think) rotor arm which is also rev limiter, on his kit car running a 2.0 pinto
Mr Sam Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 i heard of these on some other side some VW rotor arm has the same mechanism but it just cuts you dead when it hits whatever the limiter is
Tom Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 hence 'rev limiter' they've got a spring loaded contact in them that disconnects from the centrifugal force
sambo Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 Go for one of the omex clubman jobbies mate. I got one recently and it was a doddle to fit and works well too.
X-pack-Glyn Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 valve bounce is my limiter thats why i run standard valve springs....helps the cam last a bit longer too
groomers Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 wouldnt bother with a rotor arm one as mine started out at 6800 now cuts in around 5500
marky4 Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 i've got the omex clubman on mine (2.1) not had it long but works very well and fully adjustable also hard and soft cut out got it from rally design £58.50 very pleased with it so far
Anglia68 Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 I bought mine off Omex at the Autosport Show at the NEC a few years ago and it was VAT free. The show's on in January so if you're going you could get a few quid off.
Alan G Posted December 31, 2006 Author Report Posted December 31, 2006 Doubt I'll be going seems that I'm over the pond!
